Just got a Bontrager Adventure top tube bag, which fits with bolts to frames with top tube bottle bosses. For a top tube bag it seems well proportioned and decently made....apart from the fact that the bottle boss holes are 60mm apart, not standard 64mm. Really?!

Is it faulty or have others found the same with this bag?

Whilst I'm whinging, why is it every bike accessory I've bought over the past few months seem to have required some modding and/or faffing to make it fit 🤔

did you manage to fix it?

I'm about to buy this thing for the bolts-on feature but this is letting me down

And we’ve just got over varying wheel hub ‘standards’ and now they’re coming after our bottle cages, pull up your Argyll sock, clutch your bisons, this is war! (or something) 🤪

@ciquta After drilling some extra holes it fits ok TBF, pretty stable, though do use a thin strap between front of the bag round the steerer tube spacers. As you can see the top tube has a bend too which doesn't help. The strap beneath the bag is really for the frame bag. It's been fit and forget so far and is a very useable size.

The reviews on the Trek website indicate that it's a design issue. Nobody checked the sample from the factory?
Send it back or use a soldering iron to make a new hole. Before you do make sure that it reaches your steerer. There's no standard to where manufacturers position bosses relative to the steerer. Not an issue with strap on bags but may be with bolt on.
IIRC Ridley ones are so far away that our bags with effectively 20cm of adjustment still won't reach the steerer.

thanks @luv2ride, very helpful!

I have few more questions:

- how does it score against rain?

- is it easy to squeeze a big smartphone inside?

- why you put a stiker to protect a unpainted Ti frame from cable rub???

@ciquta
- haven't really had this out in heavy rain, but showers have been no problem
- havent tried a large smartphone, but my Samsung Galaxy S10e just fits
- couldn't belive how quickly the surface marked from cable rub. Haven't tried the baby oil/wirewool treatment yet, and had some clear patches knocking about, so...
