    I’m trying to change the 2 pin euro style plug on a battery charger to a uk plug.

    i know how to wire a uk plug, but this bastard has got a black wire and a red wire.

    Some things on the net suggest black is live, and others suggest red is live.

    gamble all on red?

    Does it matter? Euro plug can go in either way so the equipment doesn’t care. Me I’d go red or just use an adaptor.

    Black to red, blue (blew) to bits!!

    Surely red is live.

    Yup – a.c. side shouldn’t matter which way round.

    US stuff has black=live, white=neutral (which is possibly where the black confusion on the ‘net arises?)

    Surely red is the colour of mud, so it must be earth ? 🙂
