I'd love this as a back up for the timber bell for the occasional miserable **** that claims not to hear it.

But not enough to spend that on it.

Yeah, like I would have enough breath to spare to use that when I'm out on the bike! 🤣🤣

The cheapo bulb horn on my pub bike is louder than a bell and never fails to raise a smile.

Whimsical? I'd want to throw the rider into a hedge immediately, even if it was me.

A cheaper option is one of these...

https://www.gear4music.com/Drums-and-Percussion/Train-Whistle-by-Gear4music/2YVF?origin=product-ads&gclid=CjwKCAjw_tWRBhAwEiwALxFPoYiUR8uLqxdG3uFxnWoTciw7euI05cZZzbP0ZUOkaCG3qF70nlb01xoC4L0QAvD_BwE

.. particularly on routes that used to be railway lines.

Seriously, though, don't do it, as you'll just annoy people.

(I did do it once, to prank a friend, but made sure that nobody else was around - and waited until we were in a tunnel)

I sometimes use a duck call (plastic/wetherproof). Most amusing to see ramblers turn round to find that the duck has flown and a bike is imminent!

When I was young and foolish, I had a duck call in my cricket bag.

Albie lived for the weekend, he worked in a timber yard cutting up timber day after day. He was as strong as an ox, and you never wanted to lend him your bat because he could turn it into matchsticks in no time at all - I think his own was teak, it was that heavy and tough. Like him, he was a lovely bloke, but hard as nails.

So when he got 'sawn off' for a ridiculous lbw first ball, and that's his weekend done and dusted, thanks for coming, back to the yard on Monday, he was pissed off. Like really, really pissed off.

I don't know what possessed me to blow it as he was walking back from the crease. Not a mistake I ever made again.

Yep, & the amount of people who say, ‘that’s better than any bell’ makes you wonder if it’s the way forward.
Mine just looks daft, but ‘honk honk’.

As amusing as it is, times when you want to use a bell, you likely also want both hands on the bars and covering the brakes. Or you can ride around with this in your mouth like a dummy. I guess practically you'd hang it around your neck on a lanyard.

The cheapo bulb horn on my pub bike is louder than a bell and never fails to raise a smile.

That's the delicate combination - gets attention, but doesn't rile people up. All sorts of electrical horns on YouTube e.g. Hornit, fails on the latter aspect.

I like this tyre-driven bell

This could be a good solution to runners with headphones... 🤔

Remember the Sunn mascot you could mount to the bars? Squeeze him and he made a rubbery honking/farting sound.
