^^^That certainly was an urban myth – as I’m pretty sure you’d never see more than 2 V-Boats at sea at anyone time…
They’ve been re-fueling them one at a time over the last about 8 years, so we’ve effectively only had 3 anyway..

Liked this story about a WWII japanese supersub in the news recently
    http://edition.cnn.com/2013/12/03/us/japanese-submarine-found/

never heard about it before but quite impressive could carry up to 3 airplanes!

I used to quite like the urban myth that of our four boomers, three were pointed at the ussr, and one at the usa, just in case….

    Definitely a myth.

There are 4 V boats, 1 on patrol, 1 working up to go on patrol, 1 just back and another in a maintenance period. Or something like that. Only 1 ever out at sea.

Saw a doc about Soviet Subs and the Typhoon’s were that large they had a small swimming pool on board, quick Google found this >> http://englishrussia.com/2009/04/14/worlds-biggest-submarine/9/

    Definitely a myth.

Indeed – Three pointed at Russia and one at the USA would leave us with nothing pointed at France 😀
