Why not look for a pattern / exchange part. Your TT is just a Golf , so the R32 will share almost all driveline parts.
German and Swedish or Euro Car Parts would be my first point of call, or even dial a part . I would imagine a fair few TT / Golfs get written off , or are stolen and ragged.
I do think £450 for an exchange unit , therefore implying the one fitted by Audi will be a rebuilt / reconditioned unit ,is a touch expensive.

Is it not under warranty at all?

If you knew the cars I’ve had, you’d know how much I’m sniggering right now. I’ve also now grown up and moved on from wasting money on cars, plus as one of my mates works for a BMW dealer, I know what ‘the trade’ thinks of your ‘beast’…

That car’s too old to justify getting it repaired at Audi, if you must take it to a specialist.

I’ve got an A3 with the same engine…if I took it to Audi it would cost a fortune to fix.

I doubt the diagnostic sheet will tell you much…it’ll have a non-descript error code that’ll point to ‘an electrical fault’. Although your Audi engineer friend might be able to glean more info from it.

If you’re anywhere near Epsom I’d recommend TVR Fix…they’re used to big engines/sporty cars and I got mine fixed there last year.

At least this thread shows why Lewis prefers to travel by train to Scotland from Peterborough for MTBing. Nowhere to put the bike, dismal car to drive and it consumes a fortune in fuel.

Just because I’m not a fan of any Audi’s I’ve ever met on the road…

I though the title of this thread said it all.

Can’t believe the lack of tags either.

Let’s cut out the middle man. Your cock really is bigger than ours, your car is faster, and you’re undoubtedly a splendid driver who ‘presses on’ at every available opportunity, doubtless deploying a dab of oppo’ as your mighty steed exits every corner.

LOL @Drac – just spinning him out. Anyway – it goes back soon, to be replaced by a sensible diesel estate.

No his mistake was buying it in the first place, the salesmen must have had a party that it had been bought by someone.

Big thirsty engine, great for 2001, but things have moved on in 2011, crap chassis and absolutely no bragging rights on an Internet forum which is populated by…. Cyclists.

Not yet gone to university but wants to, beahves like a teenager. How much did you pay to insure the thing, Lewis? As I can’t believe you’re over 21. However much you paid I fear your insurance company is onto a loser.

I have pretty much the same car (bar facia and body panels) and my alternator conked out the other month – cost £600 inc labour at local VW dealer to get it fixed.

It’s a company car that you have to pay to repair?

    You’re doing it wrong.

    its my dads company car,

Ah so the company will pay for it then, so what was the fuss about.

That’s like me kicking up a fuss about the price of genuine VAG wiper blades I had to get the other week, they cost me nowt but I bet they were more expensive than a generic version.

Recently I purchased a nice juicy 3.2 TT 55 plate, 29000 miles on the clock… but i wanted my old alternator back. My son’s an electrical engineer and he could take a look at it.
