I’ve got an umpteen year old Bontrager track pump that I’d rather not bin. Is the thread pitch/size the same for say Joe Blow?

They’re not, but you should be able to get a replacement head with the thready bit, and just swap the whole thing over. Hose diameters can vary a bit too though, which can make replacements a bit tricky.

I bought a BBB DualHead a while back to rescue an old Scott track pump on which the original head had been broken. It’s been a great replacement and better to use in practice than the original.

Got a 6 quid job from decathlon which did the job lovely on my old track pump. Had all the bits needed to attach it to a bare hose.

As above they are not. You can normally make it work though. Alternatively topeak make a kit (head, hose and adapters) that will fit most pumps.

They a re all near enough to be made to work though. You can jam a wide head end onto a narrow hose and pack a wide hose to fit a narrow head. Apart from that you can swap willy nilly.

My on one and compressor both have had their original heads replaced with a topeak head. Both lasted 10 years so far.

Another +1 for the Decathlon head. Double ended design is also better than the combo head it replaced.
