A month or two back, someone on here was being disparaging about Raceface Cinch BSA bottom brackets, and I said that mine was fine.

I would like to apologise wholeheartedly and unreservedly for saying that. My Raceface Cinch bottom bracket is definitely not fine, in fact far from it.

In seven months of reasonably light use, it has now seized solid. 🤬

I am sorry I ever doubted you, hivemind of STW. A Hope bottom bracket has now been ordered.

I won’t mention that my GXP bottom bracket has been going years without issues…..

Probably for the best. If you do the axle will likely snap in half next ride.

I had a press fit Ultegra BB I changed after five years because I felt sorry for it. It was fine.

Had a Hope BB with gxp converter. Was perfect for about 7 years.

My original RaceFace Cinch BSA bottom bracket lasted about 4 years, the second one lasted less than a year. Never did work out the logic with that.

My Nukeproof one is now clicking after maybe 2 years use, but I stocked up in the fire sale so have a couple more in reserve.

A wise man once said, don’t buy a Race Face product with a bearing in it.

I’ve given up on the Hope bbs as the bearings needed replacing so often and the metal on metal situation hasn’t been kind to 24mm cranks.

My conclusion is that anything that isn’t shimano ht 24mm compatible can just **** off. Mostly because XT is just really decent at a sensible price, and the rest of it because if you really want to spend a load of money you still can. And the 24mm standard is absolutely fine, there’s some little benefits to bigger but really very small and nothing like enough for the downsides.
