Anyone got one of the orange Calibre Dark Peak gravel bikes from Go Outdoor?

Not many reviews about – whats your thoughts?

I would have bought one if it were in stock, tbh, but the moment passed a bit- they timed it just right to sell all the launch bikes pretty much on arrival I think. Just looks superb value and I love my Calibre Dune (though, circumstances for the company have changed a lot- Mike the designer’s moved on and some of my customer service interactions were directly with him which was pretty cool, and also Go Outdoors are financially shoogly).

Thats interesting – popped in at the weekend and found the shelves quite bare, what was there was disorganised and very demotivated/unhelpful staff.

    Thats interesting

Don’t forget they went bust/ into administration earlier this year and were then bought back by the owners. Probably a few creditors lost money and not keen to deal.

They appear to have plenty of stock again – at least for this bike. I guess any warranty issues might be problematic if they go under.

Saw one a few weeks back, looks cracking, even with my aversion to gravel. I have a Calibre stitch and it’s tremendous, best 360 quid I’ve ever spent.

I like the look of the Calibre Lost Lad more, but alas, can’t get one for love nor money either.

Yeah, I regret not getting the Lost Lad when it was £340 😛

Please consider this before buying any Calibre Bike from Go Outdoors.
I have a problem with the front axle of my Calibre Dune. I have made multiple requests direct to both Calibre & Go Outdoors.
Go Outdoors have referred me to Calibre.
Calibre only seem to have a Social Media presence and no contact details on their website.
Calibre have failed to respond to any of my contact requests
Go Outdoors claim not to have any contact details for Calibre (despite being one of their biggest retailers) & have refused to offer further support.

I’ve given both company’s plenty of opportunities to provide customer support
& both have failed to offer any meaningful assistance.
I’m not asking either to provide anything for free. The bike is out of warranty and I am more than happy to pay for customer support.
All I am looking for from them is to be able to supply a replacement axle for which, I repeat, I am happy to pay for.

All my LBS’s state the axle is non-standard and have advised me to contact either supplier and/or manufacturer.
Even thru axle specialists Robert Axle Project have said its non-standard and to go to manufacturer.

I’m left with an un-ridable bike & neither supplier or manufacturer seems to care about helping me.

I had one, it got stolen a couple of months ago (very annoying). it was a super bike for the money. did loads of stuff on it (commute, bike packing, gravel rides, Woburn woods trails) it handled everything as well as I could of hoped.
The brake pads wear out quite quickly so always keep a set handy, i had a slight issue with toe overlap on the front wheel but I’ve got size 12’s and had the cleats quite a way back (problem went away with my spare shoes with a more xc cleat position.
The seat post was never very tight in the frames so used to twist quite often, grippy paste stuff helped a bit but it was never perfect
If you can find one I’d recommend though. did loads of miles and had great fun

TMS that’s shite, I’ve experienced their service trying to buy a spare hanger. Reckon I’ll need to SS it if I ever snap the thing! 😆

Picked up a Lost Lad a few weeks ago. Cracking bike for the money

I’ve had one since the back end of September and love it. Very capable bike. So far it’s covered 350 miles of road / off road with no issues.
Really glad I decided to buy one and it gets used almost every day for my lunch rides.
I also bought it via Klarna over 3 interest free payments which spread the cost for ease.
If you want a good winter bike to save your main bike taking a winter pasting, and if you can find one, don’t hesitate in pulling the trigger.
(I know we’ve discussed this via Insta too).

Thanks for the feedback gents. The actual bike sounds great – the company service and future parts availability less so. I guess it’s cheap for a reason!

Unless the frame or forks fail I wouldn’t worry about the parts / warranty.
It’s just quicker and easier to replace them if they fail as they’re relatively cheap anyway.
It really is a great bike out the box 👌🏼

Shame the cs is so poor. The bikes are really sorted and amazing vfm.
I bought a sentry a year ago and when I ham fistedly knackered the rear axle asked on social media what spec to get to replace it. I was given the wrong info (8mm too short) by calibre bikes so glad I double checked before ordering. I’m beginning to worry a bit about spares availability- have got a spare mech hanger but pivot bolts etc may be an issue in the future. There are stories of people with bossnuts etc who have no rideable bike due to a complete lack of spares for routine maintenance. Maybe I’ll just buy one of everything while I can…

Suppose one benefit of the Dark Peak is it doesn’t have pivots of any sort, and gears, brakes axles etc should all be standard, so in theory spares should be available anywhere.

Well, counter to the above about customer service, I left my axle from my Dune on the ground(presumably) when shoving the bike back in the van.

I contacted Calibre via Facebook messaging and Go Outdoors via email.
I received a free axle from each! Brilliant as a spare is handy.
    😊
