So the mrs had a migraine last week on holiday, a can’t really see because its blurred version. She’s had another at 8.30 this morning then another just and had to come home from work. Arm has also gone numb.
Now she has had these episodes before (years ago) and has been checked out. Had a ct etc.
I’ve told her to get back to the doctor but she’s not listening!

If she’s in the middle of a migraine she won’t want to listen, won’t be able to listen, may just want you to shut up and go away while she hides under the duvet. Try later.

If you haven’t yet convince her death is coming, leave her be until- hopefully- this episode subsides.

Disappointed this was not a “stubborn wife gave me migraine” thread.

Tell the silly cow to suffer quietly then.

Sumatriptan should do the job, believe its called something like Immigram at the chemists.

I use it in injection form for cluster headaches, but reliably told the tablets work well for migraine

My wife thought she had sinus related headaches for years (she has dodgy sinuses) – treated it with sinus medication.

Turned out it was migranes and a sumatriptan prescription for when it happens has sorted it.

If your wife won’t go and see the doctor then as above, she should suffer in silence as that’s just silly.

It took my wife about 6 weeks of not sleeping due to a shoulder injury (sustained in a rear shunt car crash 7 years ago, paltry ‘compo’ payout now seems insignificant) before my wife would listen to me and go to the docs (in the past she has gone to her osteopath when it has flared up). Thankfully now she is on some real medication (muscle relaxants, something to knock her out for sleeping) she is actually get movement back, is sleeping and is pain free.

If it were one off or very infrequent migraines then fair enough to tough it out and not bother the GP. If she’s getting a cluster of them especially with the other symptoms of blurry vision and numbness then I would do everything I could to get her to go to the doctors for a proper opinion and push for a fresh CT scan.

Yep, Imigran definitely works. Suffered from migraine for many years since a teenager, completely debilitating and leaving me confined to bed for a couple of days every few weeks. Prescribed Imigran when it was a relatively new drug, previously only available in injection form, 20 odd years ago and it’s been a life-changer – still get them but the Imigran keeps things under control while the migraine runs its course and I can get on with things.

Good to know there is something you can take to relieve the suffering, never had migraines, but a colleague at work suffered badly from them and saw how devastating the effects were on her.
Did try the nasal spray form, but didn’t seem to work that well, think it was too low a dosage.

Always get an achy neck and shoulders after taking it, but considerably better than the headaches. Was warned about taking too much though, can apparently cause a stroke. If I get to that point its a quick course of steroids, wonder if they also work to break up a spell of migraines?
