    Typically, the latest officially supported version of Android should download to your phone automatically. Go to your settings and check for an update.

    Otherwise you’ll need to root the phone to install a newer version.

    joking aside – google for cyanogenmod or xda developers for unoffical roms you may be able to install and get 4.2.2 or whatever is latest..

    otherwise you are in the hands of Motorola and they may not care or be offering updates..

    Theres some stuff on MoDaCo, but your best bet is the XDA forums as mentioned.

    lots of fun to be had rooting and trying different ROMS, if that’s what you like.

    I think I change my rom every 2 or 3 months, just for change. currently running Slimbean 4.2 on my old clunky orange san fran 2. but cyanogen mod’s are good too.
