..you know the stuff which you have to be over 18 to order ..but look over 25 or you are asked for I.D…before being given your goods .
As from today everyone will be asked to provide I.D.before parcels are handed over 18 or 98 ..makes no difference no ID ..no parcel ..

I can say with reasonable certainty that this policy affects nobody here.

Knives and axes are included. Not just Amazon either.

Isnt this for knives and similar implements only.
There was a new law passed recently which required proof of age for mail orders.
Although guess Amazon might have just said sod it and applied it to the lot.

It had never occurred to me that Amazon supplied gentlemen’s specialist literature.

So this means an end to Amazon lockers?
Good news on the employment front. They will need lots of extra drivers. Then when they find that every delivery is taking 5 minutes while house holder finds suitable ID, instead of the 30 secs ift takes to dump it in your porch that will reduce number of deliveries per round so more jobs…and expense to Amazon.
And what when driver asks me to take in a parcel for next door? He can get stuffed in I’m going id myself to him, so he will have to come back. More work.
And what when wifey is out and her parcel arrives? Will he want my id or hers?

Think OP had better go and get a proper story.

only if you’re ordering booze, knifes, 18 films, etc. I assume they already can’t be sent to lockers. 99% of orders will be unaffected

My local supermarket has both lockers and ability to collect from customer service desk, which I had to do for a recent order which was age restricted so I imagine this will become more common.

With same order as above it could only be the person who placed and paid for the order that signed for it with their own id – couldn’t get anyone to do it for you.

This was for a penknife btw not a dildo or suchlike.

Amazon warned me about this when I ordered a multitool recently. The driver did not ask for any ID when he delivered it probably in part due to the fact he just threw it onto the lawn to save having to open the gate and walk up the driveway.

Sarawak ..age verified orders have never been able to be taken in by a neighbour ..only by a member of the household from which it has been ordered and only then if that person looks over 25 ..if not then I.D.is required ..so the only thing that is changing is the fact that all parcels deemed to be age restricted need ID from the recipient regardless of how old they look ..also worth remembering that it’s not the courier that you are helping ..but your neighbour and should it not be in you to do so then expect the same from them ..
As for it being a story ..no you numpty it’s merely information that I’m passing on ..nothing more .

I ordered a Gerber multi-tool on Prime Day and (at 45) got asked for ID by the Amazon delivery guy, bit surprising but I figured it was just a change of policy rather than him being an arse – he did mention a few people and been pissy about it earlier in the day though.

Ordered a bottle of Jameson’s which was then delivered with age restricted delivery. Neighbors offered to take parcel but unfortunately they can’t as it needs to be someone from the household.
Luckily the very kind driver came back later in the day when I was back from work… On a Sunday as well, hero.

The new law on knives makes it illegal to send them to residential premises, irrespective of the age of the purchaser. No age verification, once the Act comes into force (and I don’t know when that will be) you just won’t be able to buy ‘bladed items’ by mail order.

Good thing too, it’s about time the knife crime epidemic was taken seriously. This’ll put an end to all those stabbings and such, just as soon as the nation’s mail-ordered knife supply dries up. I’m laying in a supply of sporks so I’m prepared for the soft food only post-Brexit Britain.

    Amazon product page for squeegee

This stupidity isn’t actually Amazon’s fault, blame Lord Justice Laws.

So, once s38 of the Offensive Weapons Act comes into force, Amazon won’t be able to sell telescopic squeegees at all, unless they have a shop. By the same logic, mail order purchase of windscreen wipers will be illegal. And drones.

Oddly enough i was looking to buy a bosmere chiminea cover and it says you need to be over 16yrs of age……for a garden furniture cover! Eh!

“once s38 of the Offensive Weapons Act comes into force”

It’s not that bad, s41 limits s38 to a blade that “is capable of causing a serious injury to a person which involves cutting that person’s skin”.

I think you’d struggle to cut skin with a wiper blade. No more mail order scissors, ice skates, first aid kits, razors, lawn turf or jet engines though. And pretty much kills all online-only tool shops.
