alps recommendation for natural riding with chairlift

hello. as in title , i need to figure out where are best hidden gems around alps with some cool natural trails – roots rocks etc. I am not much into bikeparks berm jump berm style flow machine built trails ( am ok for 2 days but then it starts to get a bit boring to me) , lets just say i want some bad ass enduro natural trails in forests with nearby chairlift. more tips better. thank you folks.

thats the kind of riding I do, and have found quite a bit to keep me entertained using some of the PdS lifts. Particularly off the back of Mont Chery and out towards St Jean d’Aulps.

Using the lifts to get up to mont chery or chavannes or Pleny etc and then heading off away from the grommet lines.

I’ve been to Les Gets and Morzine a few times now and if we go back next year I’ll be looking to ride totally different trails. It’s easy (and probably for the best) to stick to what you know in the parks when you’re on your own but I was dying for some ruffage.

I’d also like to hear where I can find nasty piles of snarling roots and rocks.

There are a lot of hidden tracks on the Super Morzine side, accessed from the blue zig-zag descent. There is also quite a bit hidden in the trees on chavvannes.

Morgins used to be good, but they’ve turned it into a bike park, which for me is a shame.

PdS ticks the boxes as described above. I really enjoyed a short trip to Les Saisies, which has an epic natural & technical enduro route down to albertville with very cheap bus & trailer rides back. We camped at a lovely little campsite in Beaufort , which also has a cheap bus service up to les Saisies, where there’s lift operated stuff.

I found some stunning natural trail stuff in Vallouise near Puy St Vincent & Briancon; beautiful area in the high alpes.

If these are the ones I think you mean they were blocked off and had big no cycling signs on the trees when I was there in August! Which is a shame, they are great 🙁

The track closest to the ski lift is blocked off, but there are others which can be accessed from further down the road.

Steve at http://www.bike-alp.com/%5B/url%5D was brilliant this summer. Great trails, one descent was 16km and took over an hour 🙂 White Room Chalet also got a good reputation.

http://www.bikeverbier.com – exactly what you’re after. Been doing it for way longer than most, and it shows. You wouldn’t believe the singletrack these folk can get you to. Ride in the resort using the lifts if you like, but you’ll be missing out on mind-blowing singletrack further afield which BV get to using their van and local chair lifts. Loads on this forum are satisfied guests, and many of them go year after year. Great chalet, grub, guides, the works.

All day every day, I went a few years ago and muddled through then went with Trail Addiction last year and was astounded by the sheer volume of lift accessed trails on the Vanwoire side of the valley.

I contemplated doing my own thing this year but the thought of cooking evening meals after a day on the bike kinda helped me decide that it was a good idea to go with them again this year.

Did some outstanding descending, pound stretcher, double header, gold miners, white lines, Grange Hill and managed to get La Varda in before they closed it.

I live in Chamonix and can highly recommend it. The riding is incredible, though do your reaserch on trails before you get there, most are more ‘local’ trails I suppose. It was always overlooked by bikers who wanted PDS bike park style trails, now with the rise of enduro and more adventure style biking people are looking to explore a bit.

It is also perfectly positioned, within an hour you have:

Verbier (a few other small resorts around there)
PDS (Les Gets, Morzine etc.)
Les Saisies
La Clusaz
Pila (Italy)

All amazing places to ride.

La Thuile is also less than an hour from Chamonix – another amazing place to ride.
