As I’m getting older my upper body strength is a joke compared to the lofty days of my yoof. Used to knock out press ups and sit ups for fun but now my upper body condition is embarrassing in comparison. While I’m not that bothered about brute strength anymore, I would like my upper body to be functionally fit. Just need to find a routine that achieves this. The job I do is sedentary, very long hours at a desk, sometimes from home so a quick workout can break up the day and help me focus.
I still keep pretty fit through cycling (100-200km per wk). I have a gym membership, obviously they are closed now, but the reality is that I hardly ever go. I prefer to get some fresh air walking the dog or riding my bikes if I have free time. I have some dumbells under the bed and fanny around with them when I remember.
I downloaded the Adidas fitness app and intended to give that a go but while it looks OK I have not settled into a routine with it.
I was thinking of getting the C2 ski erg. First saw it used in the Pinkbike Privateer series, I think it was part of Ritchie Rudes training routine. I have had a C2 rower in the past but sold it on as I found the workouts really boring and they also doubled down on legs which I didnt really need. The ski erg is more about core, upper body and looks accessible for 20-30mins workouts. Has anybody used one? Any better suggestions?
