She’s bright, only needs to be told or read something once and it sticks, and does all the work asked of her.
I’d say GCSEs have less depth of content in some subjects than years ago, but are more formulaic and procedural than before. English in particular has gone into all sorts of twists of having to display every grammar combo and writing to audience styles.
It’s yet another transition year though, most marks to the final exams and few being taken early. Schools round here are much worse than they should be and have gone a bit defensive on English and Maths, giving them more timetable and cutting an option out, together with not examining R.E./Ethics/whateveritscalledwhereyouare, so the days of students coming out with over a dozen are gone round here.
