    Recipe for disaster?

I ran 8spd Campag with a 10spd chainset for a couple of years – no problems at all, chain never came off etc…

There’s not all that much difference with the inner-width of 8spd and 10spd chains, hence the chainring thickness isn’t much different.

I also ran 9spd gears with an 11spd chainset – again, no issues at all.

I am of course talking road and CX bikes.

Aye, I’ll risk it, am cobbling together a cx bike and there’s a cheap chaunset in the classifieds. Reckon I’ll have it.

I’d happily mix 9,10 & 11 but 8 is a bridge too far for me personally. Good to know it’s doable though!

I mixed 8 speed cassette & chain with tiagra front 10 spd triple rings all worked but the tiagra derailleur was to narrow and rubbed you want the 8 or 9 speed front der imo.
