I’ve built up my all city gorilla monsoon using my vaya as a donor bike so initially using 700c wheels. However I’m looking to change to 650b (what the bike was designed for) but as the frame will take up to 2.4 tyres I’m unsure on the difference internal rim width plays.

I want to make the most of the supple ride whilst still keeping things rolling relatively quickly. Looking at hope fortus 26w/30w/35w. Will probably put some g-ones or gravel kings on.

    Thanks in advance

I’d look at something other than Hopes if you want a wider rim. Fortus 30 are a full on DH rim and the wheels are 2.3kg. The 35mm are lighter, but still 2kg+

Hunt would be getting my money.

+1 for Hunt. Got some Enduro wides recently. 33mm wide and fitted some 2.8’s. Great wheels. Under 2kg’s. I have some DT Swiss XRC1250 carbons, £1000+ set of wheels. No way I’d pay that again after seeing the quality of the Hunt’s. They will be getting my money for my next set of XC race wheels.
