I saw the forum thread and was about to say that you give us all hope, coming from a 42 year old etc...

But I feel I may of been duped.

i have at least two parts from a bike of yours from years ago

One of those you like doing it so its your choice

I average a new bike about every 3-5 years and its usually worn out/obsolete when i get rid

favourite was the ventana el capitan. possibly the only one to truly fit me. awesome bike.

worst was a gary fisher fat possum. made from recycled rubber bands. rear end flexed so much the tyre rubbed on the stays even when seated.

most expensive mistake was the jones plus.

Take hope bonobo: 62 (not quite as many bikes) but only been riding for 6/7 years. I’ll get there.

You've played well, but it would be a crime to miss out on your century.

Including a BSO and 3road bikes I'm had 10 bikes in total from the age of 16-39 and still manage to ride at least once a week.

Ton, do you break them or are you constantly searching for perfection? Or just curious what's out there, putting upgrade claims to the test?

i just like cycling and bikes mate. always have.
also i am a life long cycle commuter. a new bike every year is still far far cheaper than being a car commuter.

also, why have toast every day for breakfast, when there is a whole menu to work your way through. 8)

Started at 13 now 39 and have honestly lost count! (similar amount to Ton I suspect, if I could be bothered to list them all) I have always worked in bike shops though, I expect that accelerates the rate of change, ’Oooh, shiny new frame/fork/widget, I NEED one, put it on the account!’ Not helped by colleagues egging you on!

Started biking again at 20, nearly 30 now, into nearly 20 bikes I reckon, never any more than 3 at once......
