Im off to the Lakes in a couple of weeks for a weekends riding. I need a 3-4 hr natural mtb route from Ambleside area please.

We are a group of 7 guys and are happy with trail centre reds and blacks. We are all reasonably fit but dont really relish hike-a-bike.

Does anyone have any recommendations for us? Happy to nav off maps or follow a gpx track on a gps unit.

    Thanks

Ambleside up past holbeck ghyll to troutbeck. Up and over garburn pass to kentmere, then back over to troutbeck via high borrans and finally descend down Jenkins crag back to Ambleside,

    Nice wee ride that.

To add to no beers route you can drop down into Staveley by climbing up onto Green Quarter. Coffee at Wilfs and a tour of wheelbase bike shop

You can start this route froze Ambleside: http://pedalnorth.com/content/hawkshead-hilltops-0
Cycle out to Clappersgate, then High Wray and along the lakeside to where the ferry terminal 😆
