[quote=spyke85 ]Is there a Singletrack group or something on Zwift? How can I join?
Strava Club

Racing team

^^^ to join the Zwiftpower team just enter STW in the "team" field on your ZP profile.
Strava club is useful to see how you stack up against other STWers on KOMS, etc
Some of us also have "STW" after our names on our Zwift profiles so we can ID each other while riding.
crosshair
The Friday Criterium have a jersey give away and some prizes if anyone fancies it? 7pm.....
Are you taking part? ๐
thought I might, but no chance of being readyif anyone fancies it? 7pm.....
might have a bimble round the volcano climb later
Lol Nath! Nah, my bike was outside drying off still. Oh yeah, suppose I'd better save my legs too ๐
Just did the ZHR Up & Down race (mountain route). Only the 2nd time I've done that climb, and the first time with a smart trainer. Gave it my all racing up the Epic KOM having forgotten about the steeper bit up to the radio tower after it levels out. Almost cried when the gradient hit 17%. ๐ The descent was good fun though, trying to find the optimum balance of super-tuck & pedalling, plus timing the sprints to get up the little 10% climbs using momentum from the descent. Utterly brutal race though, the only time so far I've not had it in me for a sprint finish!
SUNDAY GROUP RIDE
Just as we get a few interested in the Pretzel ride, Zwift changes the course schedule ๐
So I plan on doing an 18:30 London-8 ride instead.
Select London 8.
Meet at the start line @ 18:30 this Sunday.
STW tag plus your team in brackets if you have one.
Pace- 190/200w on the flat with a bit more on the climbs. Aiming for 2.3w/kg overall again.
Distance- 50miles.
Very relaxed and informal. Drop in or out as you please.
See you there ๐
Yeah possible for that.
surely one or other of you will be busy doing press interviews, GCN vids and shit after the big showdown ?
Vortex cadence calculations are notoriously ropey. Use an external cadence sensor.
Well, what a revelation! An external cadence sensor turns out to be so much more accurate (or at least stable) than the Vortex internal sensor. Made doing the fussy GCN workouts a lot more tolerable ๐
I'm in for tonight. Not sure if it will be from the start though. Be gentle with me, I'll be on the Parkwood.
Reckon I'll show up for a bit, too, long as it's a nice slow plod - I'm struggling with sore legs after some overambitious weight training on Friday
(puny old bloke in mid-life crisis SHOCKA! ๐ )
2xLondon loop and well off my best pace up Box hill. Still tooth has settled down and cold has gone so time to start making some gains.
Just done my first Zwift race in ages; WBR 17.3 mile flat London.
My legs were still tired after yesterday and it was only supposed to be a gentle spin today, but when I logged on I saw that it was starting in 5 mins and couldn't resist ๐ Stuck with the leading group for about 10 miles and eased off a little as it started to hurt. Sat in no mans land for a few miles and then latched onto to the chasing group, outsprinting all but one of them for the finish (I couldn't resist)...
7th in my cat 8th overall. That'll do for my comeback ride. http://www.zwiftpower.com/race.php?id=4151
These races will be a lot easier from tomorrow as the stages power meter is being sent back, leaving me with Vortex power ๐
Well done at Dalton yesterday Nath.
Shame there's not another week for you to come and play with the Cat 2s.
Thanks! Were you there too @The Southern Yeti??
Yes, a sacraficial ride to allow another couple of the team's riders to tie up the series in the 2/3/4 race.
Ah very nice, should have said hello - I was out in a distinguishable jersey for the STWers ๐
Hoping you didn't see my near death experience on that last corner!! ๐ณ
Didn't see any of your race but a friend's frame got snapped in the crash.
Saw your result on the Strava zwift feed and thought it should be acknowledged
I'll be a bit late in but will be on by 7 anyway.
No worries, just hit ride with and drop on in ๐
I might drop in a bit later if i am still awake (only had 3 hrs sleep due to kids). Is it easier to be a friend of someone so that they show on the ride with function? How do you make someone a friend in zwift?
From the app. Use the eyeglass to search. I'm easy to work out.
The phone app (mobile link) is the easiets way - when you open it up, use the search as weeksy says. If you type in stw you should see anyone from here who's riding (as long as they've put stw in their name). Is it easier to be a friend of someone so that they show on the ride with function?
From there you can presumably just ride with them but could also add as friends for next time round
Possibly already covered within the thread but..
am i missing something or are all the courses not available all of the time? ie i usually ride the watobia hilly course but it want available today. Yet the london route has reappeared having been missing for a few weeks.
what a i mising?
There is a course schedule, usually 3-4 days watopia, 3 days London and the occasional Richmond.
Download zwiftprefs and you can choose the course you like. They are all, always running.
Still fighting to keep going with Zwift & the turbo. It's done it's job and kept me training until this point in the year, which I wouldn't have managed otherwise.
Race season for me (DH & Enduro) basically starts in a months time so i'm just doing sprints stuff now. There are a few nasty sessions I can work on a week to keep me going.
Just waiting for the weather to break, i'd rather do a few fireroad sprints than this now, i'm literally climbing the walls doing bloody turbo sessions.
Hurry up clock change & better weather, I want to put the turbo away for rest of the year ๐
Had fun with the STW crowd ๐
Went for it on Box Hill and managed an 8.01.3 which is a LOT faster than my previous best of an 8.28. On lap 1 i managed an 8.30 and had a good play with Crosshair...
I was gutted not to break into the 7's though !
Thanks for the fun lads ๐
Oh dear, that was a looseish group ride !
Saw a few STWers, and I think some of crosshair's teammates, lost them again after a couple of accidental u-turns. Rejoined and rode up box hill with crosshair then we all loitered for a bit at the top, when a MASSIVE group came through and I lost sight of everyone. Freewheeled down the hill with weeksy and Dan Chester, then lost them & ducked out for my tea
Shambles ๐
CH has just beaten my time. The bugger can't resist some friendly competition!
I managed to get in my first century on Zwift today doing the PRL Full. The hardest part about it is recovering form a numb arse afterwards! I saw a few STWers out this afternoon at various points during the ride! Managed a PR on box Hill on Lap 2 as well as a London Loop Pr as well which was nice. Currently flagged as B.Martin BMBO on Zwift. will add the STW next time I'm on, which might be in a couple of days depending how my legs feel tomorrow!
Yeah the group ride was a bit chaotic tonight. I was using a smart trainer for the first time so my pacing was all over the place. i also realised i was on london loop whilst you were doing the flat so i had to end ride and jump on again. I tried to stick with weeksy on box hill but he got the jump on me and i never caught up.
I need to change my cassette as its worn out and i never realised the amount of times i was going to be changing gears. I will give box hill a proper go when i change the cassette and i lose this hideous chest infection but i recorded 9.10 tonight without really going for it for half the hill as i was too busy looking for stwers.
BenjiM, you can change yr profile at zwift.com without doing a ride
@Blader, yes it's hard to maintain steady pace when you first use a smart machine (I still can't group ride for shit and I've had one for a while now so I guess that's my fault now - I really find it hard just to gear down and not push harder when a hill starts)
@weeksy & crosshair - stop it or you'll get no pudding ๐
I've got a weird noise/creak on my Parkwood, only when really putting down the power, I had it when outside a week or so back, but that I thought was the wheel, but I'm now running a different wheel. I'm also running different cranks and a front Mech, not chain guide.
So it's either seat post, pedals or BB.
I'm going to try a pair of pedals first and check post.
Yeah, the old skool type group rides are hard on a busy course and unlike the huge ZSUN rides etc, don't exert a large amount of draft.
If it hasn't put people off, we could always use the course hack and ride the Pretzel anyway next week?
If you can get on to Discord, it makes it simpler to clarify the rendezvous points as the intention is 180ish watts (for me, so the equivalent speed for you) on the flat and regroup after the climbs.
Last week, we kept 7 together until the end and this week was just three but it still helped the time fly by.
Weeksy- there was no way I was uploading to Strava until I had beaten your time ๐
Even if I had to sleep on it first ๐
I think a matching shirt choice would've helped - that yellow that you and your chums had on was what I looked for when I was "lost"If it hasn't put people off, we could always use the course hack and ride the Pretzel anyway next week?
CH, were you using discord as a voice device (and hearing people, or was it doing voice to text) ? I kept losing everybody whenever I tried to type a message on the tablet
Yes-voice plus sound there's a voice channel you can select. (LHS on the iPad version when landscape).
Much easier than typing....
Ah, just found it after I'd posted that - not at all intuitive on android but I believe I "am" connected to voice channel
(Is that a regular ride with your team then, or were those all STWers who hadn't added it to their names?)
No, I just advertise it there too. It's only to keep me company really ๐
I thought the group aspect worked really well, on the flat the group was consistent and happily paced... it was only when we got to Box Hill the associated chaos ensued ๐ But i openly admit that was as much/more my fault than anyone elses.
I thought the group aspect worked really well, on the flat the group was consistent and happily paced... it was only when we got to Box Hill the associated chaos ensued
i find most london races to be like that...
Well, not been on the bike for over a week I think with another case of lurgy.....
Since Oct, I've only managed to stay free of some kind of winter bug during Feb. Every other month I've caught something and so it is this month.
Can't decide whether to have a gentle ride this evening or wait a few more days...
Should have done a real TT yesterday, but the weather put me off so did the ZHR race at 16:00, my first zwift road race and on London for sometime. Logged on at the last minute with no warm up and got dropped from the front group within a minute. Settled into a small group of chasers for a bit and then with 25km to go dropped them and went solo to the finish. Ended up 7th in the A's.
As my training for this week is TT focused, I will probably do a zwift road race on Tuesday evening.
