The zip is going on my winter jacket 😫Not even a year old, but that's another story. So, time for a new one:
- waterproof/gore Tex type of thing
- permanent hood
- used for walking (locally, not up Munro's)
- Not fussed if lined, will consider shell + underlayers
- military look a plus
- I fancy the keela Munro, but quite spendy
- longer than waist length, but not down to my knees!

Any suggestions will be pondered for hrs, before a decision is finally arrived at!

NB - should I wait for Jan sales now?

Cheers,

Paul

Nooo... horrific thing. Incredibly heavy and cut like a 1970s British Army combat jacket and not in a good way, think bat-wing sleeves. Just a really nasty jacket. I had one, but gave it away to a project which supports homeless people or you could have it for free.

I'd go and have a browse through Sport Pursuit and see what's on offer there in your size from a half-decent brand. Berghaus, Montane, whatever. Sprayway used to do a half-decent, no-frills Gore-Tex jacket called the Zeus, there's three of them, brand new on eBay atm, new, at 90 quid. Bargain if they have your size.

M65 is a classic, style has been copied and modified all over the world.
For forty squids I don’t think you could do better.

It's very expensive but the Country Innovations Rover jacket is possibly the best thing I've ever bought. Much like the M65 linked above but £300 more expensive

I actually really liked my Keela Munro, but it was just more jacket than I needed. Styling is a bit more 'classic', handwarmer pockets and hood were great. Does weight a bit, but very protective.

Actually... It may be on a popular auction site at the moment, ending about 8pm on Sunday 😉

Big fan of montane stuff, have a few insulated jackets from them, cut well, made well and cozy. Prism is probably the best thing I've ever bought!
