Hi,

Last couple of days, XP decides to switch itself off when I closed (different) programs. Windows call this 'blue screen' and suggested an update of all drivers etc.,

Did this this morning with driver updates for the graphics card and monitor. Since then, the screen is on 4 bit colour and lowest resolution - awful! It will not allow me to change it. I tried rolling back the driver for the monitor (plug 'n' play) but still no joy ......

Was thinking a system restore to a point a few days ago (before the latest XP updates?). What do you reckon? Is there something else I should be trying?

Cheers,

Well you can do restores safely so no harm there - just create a new restore point now and then restore to one of the auto-restore points from when you know it was working. If it fails then restore back to the latest one.
