OK, seeing as we have a large contingent of IT professionals on here, this is probably well aimed. I'm used to linux and it's simplicity, Windows seems to have me!

Two XP systems, running on a corporate network. Share a folder on one machine and everyone can read it, but only the owner can delete it (despite everyone having all permissions?). No problem there. Then owner deletes file, file vanishes on owners view but on server it just loses its ownership. Then the server admin (admin lite, not full admin) can't delete it, and the owner can hit refresh and see it again, but not delete it. Very odd. Until the owner powers off their machine, then they vanish entirely. WTF is going on there? I've been into the options and turned off simple file sharing and caching and the folder now acts as I'd expected it to (except everyone can now delete each others files, but it's a trusted environment anyway), so what was happening in the first place?!
