We will be in touch
Hi all , I know someone out there will have all the answers..... About to buy a new pc for home, and my Mrs uses a company supplied lap top. So we (she) has decided we should get wifi and stop using that stupid old cable! Looking on the usual shops i see there is a massive price difference that seems to relate to the speed or / and data rate. I have found the latest protocol is 802.11n this seems to be much higher mbps that previous protocol, but also more expensive. I use the internet for basic stuff here, ebay, watchin a bit of I-player etc. Not streaming movies etc. What mbps do I really need, is it worth forking out for the latest technology??
G will do you fine. It's not all that likely the works laptop will be draft N anyway.
Unless you're on a good cable ISP your internet connection will be the slow bit, not your LAN.
renew your contract with your isp and they'll probably send you a wireless router for free. Ours did :o)
Thanks guys I thought "N"! was probably more than i needed.
