MegaSack DRAW - This year's winner is user - rgwb
We will be in touch
I'm currently contributing from Perth WA so missing the whole lunchtime fast banter, so wondering who else is elsewhere
I will be out of the Uk for 9 months in a week.
Yay!!
where are you going? are you taking a bike?
I'm in Geneva , Switz...coming on 9 yrs now.
I'm in the British Virgin Islands. Coming up to 5 years.
Unfortunately I am trapped in Ireland
I'm stuck in Sweden. 3 years in and no sign of escape...
I'm moving to Germany in July, a bit early to make it look like I'm leaving because of the Tory government, but that's what I'll tell people.
Vivo en España
I'm in Germany, but only for another couple of months 🙁
As I'm being transferred back to our UK office - boo! I love German cyclepaths...
I am in Frankfurt airport. Again.
norway. again. could be worse. could be cornwall.
im in Lausanne - coming up for 2 yrs..best move of my life..
I am in the Irish Riviera
Hey Mike, whereabouts in Perth are you? I'm coming over to Freo in a few months to work at Royal Perth Clinic. Been on Perth MBC forum for a week or so, and another site called Huck to Flat. Seems like lots of street riding there. What's the XC and all-day-blast riding like?
New York for me - been year ~1 year - been ace fun, but not been great for riding. Home to sunny Edinburgh in the summer.
From Scotland, now in Germany, (over 15 years now). Alps, Black Forest, real summers, great riding, real winters, great snow and snowboarding. Good beer! And the best bit... I get to come to the UK to visit. 😉
3 years in The Hague - most boring place on Earth; before that Paris - most beautiful city on Earth
I'm in New Zealand (Auckland) been here for almost two and half years now) lived in Reading for a long time before that (so I was gutted to miss the STW Swinley ride). No plans to go back, two young children, great beaches & better climate.
In The Hague as well.
I must have been really bad in a previous life.
In Germany too (Darmstadt) since 2003.
In Netherlands (Leiden) before that from 1999-2003.
Westcoast S.I. New Zealand.Best back country riding in NZ
Moved to the Channel Islands 3 months ago. Have pretty much had to move to the dark side since leaving the UK, doesn't stop me spending money on the MTB though.
aphex
from what i gather it's damm hot!!
A bit too hot to ride during the day right now so lights are a bonus. There seems to be a lot of riding to do about 1hr from the city, try and get a copy of australian mountain bike for some more ideas. We will have gone east by the time you get here but stick your head into Cottesloe bike shop and Kalamunda Cycles link or have a look at Oz MB trails and for just getting around perth has fantastic cycle paths Maps Here
Wellington, NZ. Crap place to live, stay where you are.
Adelaide comng up 3 years...Colorado before that...Sowf Lundun born and bred though...Gotta love Peckham!
I am in Vancouver, BC for three years (hopefully permanently)
Also in Perth, WA. You get used to the heat - did a 4 hour race in 35 degrees a fortnight ago.
Lots of good XC singletrack in the Perth Hills (40 mins from the city) even if the best stuff is a little hard to find. Try and hook up with some guys on PMBC to get them to show you around. A GPS can also be useful as it all looks the bloody same.
Been a year here in Spokane Washington, had some ups and downs, hope to get alot more bik'in done this year.
Sitting in hotel room in Melbourne, VIC. Got in very early this morning from UK via Dubai. 10 days of business meetings in VIC and NSW and then back home!
In Aus - Sunshine Coast. Have been here a little over two years.
Riding: Good around Tewantin woods (Noosa) the rest of the coast is mostly fairly spread out and a bit rutted from motorbikes.
Weather is mad - Summer is too hot & wet. Winter is good, so riding in the same time of year as you lot (not the posters here I suppose).
It's a good place to live, but have to commute to Brisbane by train each day and that's no fun (1.5 hours each way). Worth it for getting home to a fantastic queenslander house.

Doesn't look like much, but indicative of trails - some single track (on the left) and a lot of double(ish) as on the right.
Have just returned to Auckland NZ from a month in Greenock & Freuchie visiting parents and showing off grandchild in freezing cold weather. Been here 10.5 years and now realise how much I love this country.
Sainte Foy, France. It's tough out here... 🙂
Stavanger for a couple of years. was in Zurich for 5 years before that.
Didn't fancy another winter in Innerleithen so me and my bike are now in Queenstown, New Zealand, until it warms up back in the UK!
N.Z. (Hutt Valley near Wellington) enjoying my first summer at home for 4 years. Loving the weather.
I am in Nice in the south east of France and the only thing I am looking forward to is moving back the the UK.
Preferably around Scotland or York.
Life here sucks.
In France, near Perpignan only since late last year.
haven't got the mountain bike here yet and the dark side is calling

adrianp7, we chatted briefly on here shortly before you left (you posted about your last ride on Box Hill I think) for Vancouver. mrs deadly and I are thinking about making the move and I just wanted to hear about your experiences. Any chance I could e-mail you? You can get me on darcyciaran [at] mac [dot] com
Madrid. Been here exactly 2 years and besides a rubbish job it's great. Riding is surprisingly good, though I'm currently without a bike as some Spanish ned nicked it. Using the time to get in some snowboarding and planning to get a Soul!
Tyrol, Austria. Moved out permanently, coming up to 2 years ago now. Busy times, but loving every minute.
whakatane NZ for me. Moved out here 2.5 years ago and am loving it. Last 2 winters were dryer and sunnier than a UK summer.
I am in the exotic GeodieLand which is not part of UK but somewhere where women dress very little due to the sunny all year round condition here.
😆
Also living in Vancouver now, moved here last Easter with the Mrs. All good so far, don't think we'll be rushing back to the UK anytime soon.
Deadly - feel free to ping any of your questions my way if you want.
I'm in the Cayman Islands, on board the motor yacht 'Mine Games' Not much space for biking though! AM I BOTHERED??
Here in Salt Lake city. It's snowing, put down at least 30c.m. in the last 12 hours.
Bunnyhop - I know what you mean. Im based in Boulder, Colorado at the moment, warmest temp today was -11C. but the biking here is fantastic, I can get a free bus ride (with my bike) to the local ski resort! bring on the summer
clock watching in melbourne, waiting till home time so i can ride my whizzy carbon fibre road bike to the park for an esky of beer, football and bbq (its 38 degrees today)

Living in the Waikato, New Zealand, close to the beaches and the trails. i know its a crappy job, but someone has to do it.
In Madrid near Eck, bike still not been stolen but now lack riding partner 🙁
Near Madrid, with bike. And various riding partners.
Dubai, UAE
Live in Malaysia, just outside KL, Petronas twin towers visible from my front garden. 35degrees everyday but awesome place to live and travel from. Also, more good quality bike pimpery here than most other places.
Lots of singletrack and technical downhill / freeride stuff as well as jungle trails on my doorstep. Very hot though...
At present have no desire to return to UK - sounds like it is going down the pan...and fast....
cheers
all

Also in Stavanger, Norway. I wonder if there are sufficient Stavanger based STW'ers to meet up for some muddy trails?
Not, in fact, in NZ.
Been living in Hobart, Tasmania for nearly 9 years. Trails are right over the road.
servus aus bayern!
es überrascht mich wie viele leute es aus england hier in deustchland sind.
wir können ein biken treff organizieren.
i'm in germany, currently in Muncih but was last year in Lindau on Lake Constance (Bodensee). a great place in summer. 30+ degrees, the alps a five minute ride away and the lake for a cooling off on the way back. lots going on in summer too. winter is a bit of a drag as the cloud forms in the valley over the lake shrouding everything in a thick fog.
thinking of finding a job some where south of munich or salzberg or innsbrück.
no real desire to be in the uk. was out yesterday for a days boarding. the alps are always there (although i find munich is too far away compared to Lindau). all i really miss is proper chips and bacon.
language is a shitter at first. some cultural quirks nervt like people trying to get on a train before you can get out and everyone wearing massive jackets and scarves despite it being +5 outside and a fear of open windows and a draft. to combat the last one they have a daily luftung. that is they open all windows for two minutes to draw the air through and then close them up tight again.

Mrs Mugsy, Little Mugsy and me (and in fact Mugsy..) now live in a very small village about 40km to the east of Lyon, near a typical picture postacrd french medieval market town (Cremieu).
Been here since October. Hectic move and still adjusting but fun.
I am also a resident of Germany. Have been here for nearly nine years (gulp!) and before that China for two years. I can sympathise with alpin's sentiments.
Johannesburg - South Africa.
🙂
Any STW'rs in or around the ULM area? I'm near Blaubeuren. Unlike Alpin I don't see other Brits round here at all. Except when I'm out boarding in the Alps, then you can't move for them/us, whatever... 🙄
glad to say i also do not see many other englanders.
although munich is full of seppos and other english speakers.
i do not understand these groups that meet up because everyone there is an english speaker. why do i want to meet up with people with whom all i have in common is the language.
although we could still do a biketreff when the snow has cleared. we like bikes and bikes are cool.
J
managed to arrange a month in the South of France just north of Beziers, brought bike and have been putting in lots of miles in amazing Languedoc scenery and predominantly good weather. not really looking forward to going back to flat, wet, grey UK in 10 days. maybe I should find a job somewhere nice?
North Shore, Vancouver, BC.
The best trails in the world (so everyone tells me) are mere minutes away.
Loving it (though the mtb trails are frozen solid at the moment and I'm having to resort to skiing, boarding or snow-shoeing)
Can someone in Germany with a camera send me an e-mail if you fancy doing a wee small favour?
jameshatfield at hotmaildotcodotuk
cheers
I mean danke mahlzeit
jimmy, check mail.
Im in lancashire but actually thought I was in Poland! 😕
