Nope don't bother in our house ... I'd rather buy her something because I want to not because I'm told I should but perhaps I'm just a grumpy git.

Ive told her indoors, no chance this year, only 2 weeks away from a holiday so all spare cash is being exchanged for euro's.

I hate valentines day, just as much as I hate mothers, fathers, grans and grandads day etc etc.... If the only time you can be bothered to show someone you care about them is one hideously commercialised day of the year then more the fool you. Complete waste of time and money.

I hate it - it's just a cynical marketing ploy designed to manipulate your emotions and persuade you to part with some money.

I hate it, I really do. We have done the valentines thing in the past but it's just lost on us both. We do however always do little things for eachother nearly every day, little presents/messages/favours etc. Surely that's what it's all about? But, some people like it so who are we to judge, if they wanna waste their hard earned cash. My mum has so far sent a card to my nan with love from her cat, bought my dad an x box game and my brother some weird duck remote control thing. Is this normal? Buying stuff for other people in the family - fully expect the answer to be no,my entire family are freaks.

Pile of nonsense. I'll get her a card to keep the peace.

Our first valentines day 14 years ago was marked by me making her a valentines day card, the front had a photo of a real, bloody heart, just removed from a body. I think at that point she realised that valentines day wasn't going to be much of an event in our marriage...

Nobody to do it with, even if I was inclined to. I have in the past made cards for GF's, and taken them out somewhere a bit special fo the day, but that's something I enjoy doing with a girlfriend anyway.

I don't do it, I mean I'd be sending a card to my right hand written by my right hand, so my right hand would know that my right hand sent it in the first place, so pretty pointless.

I'd give my right hand to be ambidextrous, then I could send a card from my left hand to my right...no wait that wouldn't work either...

Damn my being single.

Posh nosh at a charity ball last night with mates. Card and (supermarket)flowers tomorrow, but we did well in the raffle at the ball and won a voucher for a posh restaurant, a family day out at the wildlife park, and a voucher for a night in a hotel with breakfast.

Went out last night in scruffy clothes with Mrs iDave for food, first place we went to was closed for refurbishment, second place was full, third place was doing valentines night, there was one free table, we sat and had a laugh and some great food while miserable couples in posh garb struggled to find anything to say to each other. And they paid a lot for the privilege. Silly commercial bollox really.

I was thinking about this this morning.

There are quite a lot of people with their birthdays at the end of September, start of October - Christmas babies.
But you rarely meet people with birthdays in mid-November, suggesting that Valentine's Day really isn't all it's cracked up to be...

To add balance

20+ yrs together and the nice dinner is slowly cooking, wine chilling in the fridge, she is off to yoga, kids got their dinner early, Baileys supercooling in Freezer.

You never know, might be lucky.... 😉

Done Valentine's day. Had a weekend away, couple of good dinners, a laugh and so on.

I see it more as a good excuse to have a laugh than some horrendous commercial thing that's been foisted on me.

But you see we do weekends away and meals without being around Valentines.

Your joking I know but our youngest is probably a Valentine's baby, the calculation isn't taken from the date of rumpy pumpy.

Went to Cornwall for the weekend and had a lovely time. We made each other cards, don't really do presents. I was happy with my effort until she presented me with a kind of prayer fan arrangement with little pull out collages detailing the reasons why she loves me.... She also made me a 3ft illuminated seahorse for my birthday which was genius. I must buy her a lathe and get her onto bike bits 🙂

I treated the wife to a trip to the dump. Had some black bags down the side of the house that the cats pissed on.

I took the day off work to spend with my better half....

Then managed to be a MASSIVE PRICK at about 11pm last night whilst not getting my way and it took the whole day to sort out, nearly resulted in her walking out 🙁

We're going to try again on Wednesday evening!!!!

We ued to do the usual meal etc but now just do a meal at home. Had several incidents in busy restaurants the last one being won ton soup in my crotch. They're all too overcrowded for our liking. Saying that did a meal at home but managed to overcook the scallops, steak and veg. Went for Chinese takeaway this year and it was dead in there but leaving the place saw how busy KFC was tonight!

All nice to hear. Actually I do quite like it. My GF loved the roses that she wasn't expecting- again. Think when we live together though it will be nicer.

I like Valentine's day.
So what if it is commericalized, doesn't mean you can't celebrate a tradition.
You don't HAVE to spend a load of money, and you're not weak if you do.
I like it, my wife loves it, we like getting each other gifts and spoiling each other on Valentine's day. What's the problem?
And if it gives certain couples the necessary shove they need to put some romance back into their relationships, then it's got to be a good thing hasn't it??
Miserable buggers! 🙂
