looking for the best calls vs texts deal on a pay-as-you-go, or contract, no-more than £10/mth. any ideas where best to look?

My mate got a phone off here. Basically you pay say £30 a month then after 6 months you send off for a rebate and get back a good sized cheque and then it works out that you pay about £2 a month. After the 12 months or whatever of this contract (when the rebates stop) , ring up o2 nd try to cancel the deal, and if you play your cards right, you can basically continue the deal paying just £2 or so a month.
