Seeing as it's the day of days and the sky has nare a cloud in it, I cracked out the waffle cones and made up some ices

Today's special hits were tiramisu, blackberries and cheesecake, and white chocolate and raspberry. A cracking three scoop cone of joy

So Give me some recommended combos, the local dairy has an honesty shop and a freezer full of choices!

Slurp

Given a two scoop portion was £5.50 today, I dread to think what a three scoop costs

I got half litre tubs for about a fiver, so pence per lick is quite reasonable I think

If you bought 3 there was a deal, so impossible to resist

When in Italy, fondente (dark choc) and pistachio.

When elsewhere, as close as I can get to dark chocolate and pistachio.

Ordering a sorbet and choclit is, imo, the equivalent of ordering a Marina pizza....

If they can do that then they're likely to be able to pull off any other requests.

Ice-cream the other day in Spoleto was 2.30 for two scoops in a cone. What a rip off!

Whitby Gothic (blackcurrant and liquorice) and amaretto and black cherry from the local van are pretty good.

Back in the 80's I had, from a local shop, a peach ice cream and a lime ice cream - I have been searching for these flavours ever since and cannot find them (not interested in a sorbet). If anyone knows where I can get peach,  or lime ice cream I would be eternally grateful!

I was questioned over the gelato/sorbet combo but my winning smile got the right result.

We’ve just been out for a fantastic Greek meal. I don’t do desserts (we’ll, I had an Irish coffee) but Mrs Binners just finished with baklava and ice cream washed down with an amaretto

Apparently this is the best combination of things in the world EVER!

Raspberry and Ripple

Is that like country and western?

That mini vienetta looks like intestines on a stick.

Cream o' Galloway have got Gooseberry and Elderflower in a few places this year. Had one today in the sun at Kippford, and it was quite excellent.

Yeah rum raisin although it may have been gazumped by tiramisu. Works super well with a raspberry scoop

Mint chokky chip is fabulous although Im never sure what it should go with

God I just remembered Neapolitan. Probably banned since brexit.

Never completely sure about the sponge though

An old workmate introduced me to vanilla with shortbread crumbled over the top of it  god it was good!

Theres a farm shop about 40 minutes drive from here that makes their own and god its good, lots of different flavors but the bog standard stuff is lovely.

Salted caramel with a double shot espresso poured over it. Only available in a bowl or goblet sort of thing. Added danger combo of very cold solid mets hot liquid in a container, but the laws of thermal dynamic means the ice cream wins

McDonald's. Most of their food is shit, well all their food is shit really, but they do surprisingly acceptable ice cream. Just plain, don't need all the fancy choc sprinkles.

Best combo I ever had was a scoop of coffee and a scoop of pistachio from Fresco in Positano. The coffee had a good edge of bitterness to it and the pistachio had a tiny bit of salt to cut the sweetness. Best show in town.

However, the best ice creams I've had overall have all been solo affairs: lemon and basil in Venice, a particularly good Amereno cherry in Rome, and Parmesan and Plum from Paral-Lelo in Barcelona. The last of those gave my taste buds a divide-by-zero error in the best way possible.

Plain pistachio has long been my ice cream of choice but it's ruined for me now.

Custard cream and coffee combo for tea break in an ice cream.

Gooseberry crumble won out over lemon cheesecake this afternoon.

I like ice cream, I like fish like tinned mackerel, but the idea of combing fish with ice cream like the Japanese sounds bizarre!

I'm easily pleased, happy with neapolitan.

I refuse to entertain the notion that the stuff that comes out of a Mr Whippy machine is in any way related to ice cream.

Marshfield Farm Ice Cream, on the other hand, is pukka stuff. My favourites are Heavenly Honeycomb, Chocaholic Heaven, and they do a wonderful lemon sorbet, but I’ve just found out they do a coconut ice cream with actual coconut, and a black vanilla!

Fortunately the local farm shop stocks 1litre tubs… 😁

It's good to see some fellow pistachio fans here. Whenever we go to new ice cream place I get excited at the prospect that they might have pistachio ice cream in. They never do. I am often disappointed.

Cheesecake on top and White Chocolate with caramelised pistachio under.

Not bad.

But the Dark Chocolate & Ginger with a scoop of Pistachio is the best.

Johnswhite that just superb! What is the snorkel sticking out the top for? Stability?

Pistachio ice sounds good, I will see if it is in the shop next time as it gets a lot of bigging up on this thread

Ben and Jerry's chunky monkey. Lord knows why they stopped selling the tubs in the uk though you do occasionally get it in the cinema. I’d like to combine it with movenpick rhubarb-vanilla but that is also as rare as hens’ teeth in these parts.
