No seriously!

I can get the key in and it turns to lock, but it won't unlock! In the past it has been a bit selective about the key and how you held it, but it's not refused to open. It's a double glazed door with an ERA key if that helps.

It's a mortice lock. Probably just 2.5 years old. It was working fine a week ago.

Had the same problem. Try a different same key, if you've got one. Or look for any bad edges on the key and file them off.

Simplest solution would be to smash it in...

Jesus jivehoney, it's only two and a half years old.

Needs lubricating. Don't use an oil based lube, that can cause problems.

What Northwind says. A spray of WD40 will magically make it work again.

You owe us a pint.

EDIT: No, I haven't missed the double entendre.

is it a flat key as one looks like a yale key or a mortice lock key.

squirt some lubricant in, also try jiiggling the key gently in the lock or try a new or different key.

from experience era locks work well.

I believe Messrs Tyler and Perry may have experienced the same issue...

Has it been nominated for the Turner prize?

Are you in prison or a secure psychiatric unit? In that case the door isn't supposed to lock from your side.

Have you tried reeming? I find with vigorous reeming and plenty of lubricant it should be fine.

If not remove the door without a screwdriver and start again.

WD40 has done bugger all.

@project it's a mortice lock. Can't see anything wrong with the key.

Have you used a rope and swung in against it using sudden intense pressure and feet?

Call a locksmith.

You want to blow smoke up it. Or, better still, graphite powder.

Graphite.

Pull the handle up sharply.

Does it fail to unlock from both sides?
Do you have a another key and if so does the lock behave the same with both?

Do you think someone has tried to smash it in and damaged the lock?

I need to know if the OP sorted this, or if he was forced to go to Center Parks for alternative accommodation.

It is nearly sorted out now and I didn't even have to go to Centre Parks.

I hope all of your back doors are better quality and aren't prone to jamming up in a couple of years.

Have you swapped hands? My mancave Yale only opens if you use the key with your left hand. Seriously!

Got a locksmith in. He reckons it's jammed shut 🙁
