Does anyone know what the significance of this is? I have seen it about for the last 10 years or so, excuse my ignorance if it is something obvious!

[img] [/img]

click the IMG button, paste you photo's location into the pop-up (overwriting the http bit if you're pasting that bit too), then click the IMG button (now "/IMG")

(I think)

no idea what the pic is

(Edit - nope, that doooont work does it ? suppose you have to chop out a number or something from the location)

(re-edit: ah, seems you're referring to a page, not the image. Oh, and Damn you, Ernie Lynch !!!)

your 1st post used the location

that's a page that shows the image, but isn't the image itself

If you right click on the image & look at properties, you get

That's what you need to paste into the "IMG" bit

Black Rats.

It's a copper thing. Not sure if it's a bit of a myth but if you stick one on your car number plate and a cop was going to pull you, the sticker would signal that you were a cop...or not as the case may be, and leave you alone.

I'll let you speed past the police and see if it works 😉

you can't.

you HAVE to upload your pics to a website like 'photobucket' and then paste in the image code that the site gives you for your picture.

The image code starts with [img]

To echo fisha's post, yeah, that'll be motorcycle cops, though I'm not 100% convinced that it's not an urban myth

My old man (ex-police including bikes) knows nothing about this so I'm guessing urban legend.
