Read it about 30 years ago, and I'm 43 now so its as least as old as that.
Plot was: 2 people, a male and a female, get abducted by a crazed loon who may have been after revenge. He dumps them in the desert thinking they'll fry, but the chap has strong survival skills and gets them through by using available cover, collecting dew, etc etc.
Eventually they get rescued. It was set somewhere in America.
Any ideas?

Sorry I can't help, other than being a smart-ass; my chosen area of literary expertise is SF, never really been one for thrillers, and the synopsis could possibly cover a number of books.

No problem. I'm wracking my brains trying to think of any books I might have heard of that fit the description, but sadly nothing doing. Just not a genre I've really gotten into.
Dumping your synopsis into Google will probably just confuse it... 😆
A Clive Cussler book? A Dirk Pitt adventure perhaps? Plenty to choose from...not sure if he would be 30 years old in story form though...
