And I cant use Bitlocker or necessarily use it on a PC that I have admin rights to so I need something stand alone.

I'd have said TrueCrypt also.

I didn't know Steve Gibson had picked up the cause. I applaud his actions, but the Web's most melodramatic genius makes me itch.

If you only need to encrypt individual files or folders you can try Gpg4win:

If someone else is paying Lenovo do a hardware encrypted one that has a keypad on the top.

Try Veracrypt https://veracrypt.codeplex.com/ It's based on TrueCrypt after the demise of TrueCrypt
