Right I have a basics SLR (canon EOS30) with 3 lenses. Now, I like the camera, I like using it, I am very much against the 'buying to buy', but and that is a very big but, it's getting very difficult to get the film processed.
I can't really afford to buy a DSLR, but compact seems to only be good at taking danger panda shot and pictures of the little one after his raid in the jam pot.
Should I bite the bullet and get a new camera or should I bite the bullet and travel 40 kms to get a film process...?
What does the STW collective reckon?
A Canon 350D body should be quite cheap second hand now and they do great photos. Should fit your old lenses with a converter as well so no need to spend a load more on those.
There are always compacts such as the Canon G10 etc which seem to do great photos but take up less space and are a bit less pricey.
You have to go digital. You can instantly review pictures and take loads more. It'll pay for itself in saved processing charges and petrol pretty quick. 2nd hand slr is pretty cheap now.
And I disagree with compacts only being good for pics of the kids. There are some great compacts out there (G11, LX3, etc). Problem is they are the same price as an entry level SLR.
Should fit your old lenses with a converter
I thought Canon lenses fit Canon cameras ? What would the converter do ?
Yeah thought you only needed a converter for much older FD canon kit.
Oh right, well that's even better then 🙂 Didn't know if older lenses fitted the EF-S system on the 350D etc..
Digital also allows you to shoot in RAW which gives you a lot of control in post if anything needs adjusting.
