We have a new ipad coming, pressy from work for a year of not chopping off pieces of coworkers, so we have an old ipad 2 to do something with.
Aside for the bleeding obvious, sell it, give it someone more needy, etc.. give me some ideas of cool and funky things you have done or seen done with an ipad.
Other things already considered and dismissed as a bit dull, or involve too much extra outlay...
Mother of all remotes
Kitchen recipe book thing
Home automation
Picture frame
Media center would be good, but at only 16gb, not really big enough, unless theres a slick way to hook it up to more storage (not cloud please)..
full reset, leave it around as a spare web browser?
we just keep one in the bathroom...
We have an iPad 1 which is so off the pace it was unusable for browsing or pretty much anything, despite a number of clean reinstalls.
We've ended up wiping it and locking it right down (i.e. no Safari, Youtube etc), and then giving it to our 5 y/o son to use with a small selection of strictly controlled apps (Lego Ninjago being the favourite, as well as Cbeebies, MOMA art app etc).
Sadly I'm yet to find an automatic access control, but he's allowed certain time and then it's locked (with a passcode he doesn't know).
let me see - use it as an ironic coaster or donate it to a better cause? There are certainly elderly or special needs readers out there that don't currently have an ereader. I got a friend to put together a massive rock album collection on my old ipod touch 3 - and 2 days ago gave it to FIL (who loves classic rock but his CD walkman had broken). He was so happy - awesome result.
Could have used it as ironic selfie digital pic frame in the bog. Hmmm.
Difficult choice. 🙄
Spotify, idjay, a griffin splitter cable and away you go.
donate it to someone with 2 kids so they can survive a car journey longer than 30 minutes. 🙄
like me.
Sent mine back to Apple they gave me £60 https://appleonlineuk.mpxltd.co.uk/iPadHome.aspx
Customisable place mat.
Keep your fish entertained whilst you are out by resting it up against the aquarium glass and playing "finding nemo" on repeat.
I have my original iPad1 which did great daily service for 4+ years. I have tried lending it to my father and father-in-law but its too clunky now and unable to run the latest websites (mainky due to ads). It's currently sat in a cupboard, between mrs B and I we already have phones and ipads so don't need a music server / Apple TV device etc so realistically the best thing would be to sell it, there are people who will collect them and/or find uses
Mount on a wall as permanent music control panel for Spotify etc.
I still use my five year old Ipad 2 every day. It still holds a good charge as well. Can't see any need to replace it yet.
Huck it at unsuspecting hedgehogs. That'11 teach them to hog the hedges, bleeding spikey mice

My iPad1 still works ok, but in reality all it's good for is as an ebook reader.
Hence it's now my Kindle tool.
use it as a dedicated pornPad
that's what I said jon.
🙂
jail broke my ipad 1 and it lives in the kitchen.
mainly used for ocado and recipes
