going to Canada on Sunday, I need adaptor plug things for electric things - laptop, phone charger, etc.

Are they the same plugs as the USA?

thanks

cheers Burts. that's good to know 🙂

I went into Currys to buy some adaptors. Twin packs, "Europe" or "Worldwide". Except the "Worldwide" had one "worldwide" & one "Europe". so if I wanted 2 worldwide adaptors, I would have to buy 2 packs. The Europe ones are superfluous as I already have some of those.
So I went next door into Comet. The only worldwide one they had was a "universal" at £15. Not likely.

So I then went to Argos. 3 USA plug adaptors for less than £7. That's more like it 🙂

Don't forget they are on 110v and not 240v like us.

(Your hairdryer and curling tongs / hair straighteners wont work)

The problem is that the US/Can 2-pin plugs are very thin, whilst the sockets tend to be a bit slack. There isn't a lot of structural support there so if you have a big UK adapter plug connected to a big travel adapter, it gets quite heavy. That leads to lots of fun as you try and support the load on whatever is available. And sparks too (at least in my apartment!).
