Folks,
Looking at getting a laptop for the in laws for christmas. I have a budget of around ~£400 but am tied to getting it from one of the major retailers (currys/pcworld or comet). It needs to be from one of these so they can take it back for any reason rather than an online only seller. So suppose I'm looking for as much RAM as possible (3 or 4) with a decent processor, which brands currently make good quality build and spec machines? This Packard Bell seems as if it might be ok but have never owned one (I've only had Dell and Sony) so was wondering if anyone has any pointers? It'll only be used for hooking upto the tv for iplayer, internet shopping, email etc. Any pointers on brands to go for or avoid would be appreciated!
Cheers.
3 or 4 gig for surfing and email. Waaaay too much.
As per a thread a day or two ago - got my HP Pavilion from Curry's - very high spec for the price as they had it discounted.
Laptop/PC technology updates quickly, so a 6 month old model can be picked up with a healthy discount, but can still be very useable and up-to-date, if maybe not with the latest 12 core processor.
Sniff, the memory is more for the OS than owt else. I know about computers but just not brands (my i7, 580 gfx, 8 g RAM) gaming beast confirms that!
