Righty, this thing is getting a bit cranky, so looking for a new laptop with a roughly a £500 budget. Not running anything particularly fancy - Elements 8.0 is probably the chunkiest thing I need to run.

Had the same laptop problem myself and was tempted by an Aldi one a few weeks back but didn't go for it in the end.
I trawled PC World etc but in the end went to John Lewis and got a display model, last one. Toshiba with 500GB HDD, 4GB Ram and Intel Core 5 processor. £550 including 2 year warranty.
Felt suitably chuffed with the deal as £500 was pushing for a Core 3 Processor.
Core i3 might last a bit longer
