Mrs Zips ipad 5 takes forever to charge. It has a 10 W charger.
I thought I could easily buy another charger but as with most things it’s more confusing than it needs to be.
Seen an anker nano charger which is 20 W , do I need a better cable to go with a better charger? What’s all this usb c business , thought that was only android phones?
Just bought the latest ipad air. That has a usb c charger.
I have the larger (12W?) Apple charging plug that came with an iPad Pro. It charges that, and my iPhone, substantially quicker than the normal ones. No different cables needed.
I think you can charge some USB-C devices faster (my laptop has a 70W charger IIRC) but Lightning devices are limited to 18W or something. There’s no major harm in buying an adaptor above this, but they’re often bulkier/more expensive.
You could get a USB-C charger and then a USB-C to lightning cable but that wouldn’t speed anything up. It’d be a more expensive way of doing it, but might be more future-proof.
You’re wife’s iPad will be 12W lighting connection, Anker stuff is very good so yes go for that. You then want a usb to lightning cable a one that does 12w charging. Forget USB C for now.
I have an Anker Atom3 which has 46w and 18w USB C ports which I use for my iPad Pro and MacBook Air, I also have another Anker charger which is very good.
We chose Anker for chargers now, even for our Samsung phones, as it's near on impossible to get a 'real genuine' Samsung charger off Amazon or ebay - most are fake.
I use the Apple 20w USB-C charger for my iPad and iPhone. No complaints
Any quality charger from Apple, Anker, Belkin will be fine if it’s around 20w, if the Pad has a Lightning socket, then a charger with a USB-A port will be fine for anything that needs charging, some chargers have USB-A and -C ports, but care needs to be taken with USB-C cables, because manufacturers are rather casual about the specs, and not all cables will work properly with all devices - any USB-A to Lightning cable with MFi spec will work perfectly, the Amazon Basics ones are very well made, I’ve got a couple of 10’ ones!
