After a promising start, I seem to have achieved very little today, save a collection of graphs looking somewhat like this...

Which whilst probably meaningless, it is at least vaguely interesting! So, what earth-shattering advances have you made?

I've done some sitting, scratched myself a bit, thought about packing in smoking, and taken some out of date anti-biotics (dont ask, and I'd advise others not to try it). All in all, a fairly productive day.

What emits at 560nm following excitation at 460nm?

I'm on my way home now but am concerned that I'll barely sleep tonight for pondering!

I have produced much of the material for an unauthorised office magazine. By horrible coincidence, I was reminded of the firm's IT policy while I was busy. Apparently I was meant to be doing something entirely different. 🙂

I've got a commission to write a feature, sorted out the fuses for the lighting in a block of flats, got a bike shop owner to add his signature to the back of a driving license photo in exchange for three fresh espressos, changed some cash into Euros for tomorrow, sorted my CV, done a wee bit of networking with old friends to sort a new job, and retained a solicitor. That leaves 17 things on the To Do list, and actually very little achieved.

Finally got the green light to add some social media to our portal. Okay, it's only a blog and forum to begin with, but it's progress 🙂

Probably a bunch of other stuff but can't remember anything particular outstanding.

Think I'll go and make some Chai Tea now ...

Something with a long stokes shift? Big lifetime fluorescence molecule?

I had great sushi. That was about it!

It was pretty draining, so I've really had to take it easy for the rest of the day.

Cut the cock and balls off of a fibreglass reindeer, then with nifty application of expanding foam and car body filler made it look like rudolf had never had any. Then fixed his broken antler.

When people need these jobs doing why do they call me? Its not like I advertise.

I've now got rudolf's cock and balls sitting on my work bench, got them off in one peice - look a bit like a bike saddle. Anyone want them for soup?

Made sure that 94 prisoners got their daily methodone then managed to get 30 of them to work. Convinced one it would be better to go behind his door for a roll check than get nicked for not. Acted as a social worker for one who'd had some bad news about his family & social workers. Sorted a refund out for some jeans for another. Did a target search on one & found a phone charger wire inside his telly. Found out for another when his cat D board's sitting. Bollocked another for pushing in at the meds queue, calmed another one down who was going ape cos his meds weren't there. Called healthcare for one cos he had chest pains, turns out he's not dying.
Etc, etc, etc.

Got wife and baby up and spectacularly failed to get up to the BMX track for a couple of hours(opting, instead to go back to bed). Took the dogs out and after that was done, I rode to work in Top gear to make up for the earlier fail(time for a singlespeed? ). On route to work, got the back right out on some wet leaves and almost hit an oncoming cyclist. When at work, avoided eating too much product and sent some emails. I am currently waiting to work on a machine, and when done it will be about 10.15 and I can ride hime in the P**sing rain without any waterproofs. Once home I will eat a pizza while surfing mountain bike forums.

What have I acheived?...struck off another day in my life

Well, having failed to work out what emits at x wavelength, I went to the pub. Having now just got back in, I guess I'll have to leave you all guessing until tomorrow.

In any case, the answer's probably 42....

Productivity wise this has been a good day for me.

I configured 3 firewalls from scratch and got them into the hands of the courier. I also got three homeworker pilot sites up and working which was nice. I helped get an overdue SSL certificate issued and agreed on a migration strategy for a well known countryside protection agency from their current underperforming VPN connection to a more efficient MPLS solution. I agreed to become the senior resource on a new wireless project that's long overdue to make sure it eventually gets completed and I finished off the day by upgrading two firewalls protecting one of the largest electricity telemetry networks in the country. Oh, and I slipped in a couple of changes on a well known water suppliers telemetry network under the radar because they asked too late but are desperate.

Now I'm drinking beer.

Facilitated two focus groups of about 10 professionals each as part of an evaluation of the use of the Common Assessment Framework with children, young people and families.

Popped down to the gym this evening and did a Body Attack class for the first time for several weeks, a few weights and several lengths of the swimming pool followed by far too long in the sauna. Now feeling totally ****ed!

Commuted by train for an hour+
Put together proposal for the way in which GST is handled for a global travel company
Started (should be doing now) the sign off documentation for a automated flight booking processing system
Talked about migrating all sorts of hardware from one supplier to another.
Finalised the schedules on two (2) website refit projects.
And looked at a set of fiberglass reindeer nads.
And what will I remember from the day, the nads...

Still thinking about reindeer nads - considering that this is not healthy.

Woke too early. Drove 70 miles or so to show some chemical warfare bods how much they need my software. Drove home via looking at some panel vans prior to having a custom conversion made. Slept early evening, went to pub, came home.
