OH had an 'off' last week and managed to snap the crappy hinge rivet that holds the brake lever onto her Hayes Ryde brakes.
I've jury-rigged a fix with an M6 bolt I had lying around in my toolbox, but was wondering what my best option is for a proper repair. Do I need to pay ten quid for a titanium nut & bolt from CRC, or get onto Hayes for a proper spare, or will a 49p B&Q zinc-plated roofing bolt do the job quite happily?
Cheers in advance, etc.
(sods, wrong forum - could a Mod move this across please?)
Does the M6 fit? You could get a nylok nut to suit whatever size bolt fits, which shouldn't come undone. (Don't know what the pivot looks like so I may be talking rubbish)
Yeah, it does fit. I was idly wondering if a non-threaded bolt might be a better option, something like http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=43469 (or if I'm just overthinking this and it's fine).
