I got given one by my father in law the other day. Plugged it in and it installed fine ...

now, whats the point ? Sure I know I could use skype / msn etc ( when I can be bothered to talk to people via them ) but it made me wonder whether anyone else used them much?

Do you?

Or are they just for wee lassies to jump about in front of 'shakin dat ass'

It's for showing your knob to girls you've never met isn't it?

Yes. I work away.

I talk to my kids every night before they go to bed and read them a story too (they're only little - aged 4 and 2.5). It's good to see them and helps keeps me sane.

Yep - got one free with work and when the missus is away it's a nice way to chat (kind of) face to face.

as above skype to distant relatives fantastic. Grandparents can see grandkids growing up, kids know German cousins etc.

They've been great for allowing my son's grand parents to see him more than they would otherwise since we don't live in the same place as any of them.

I've only ever used one to talk to family on special occasions when we're not around and once when I was away for work to talk to the Mrs. Usually can't really be bothered.

Same as clubber, showing off twins to grandparents, Skype is a great thing when you live at other ends of the country.

Question.... Is skype any better than google video-chat or MSN messenger video thingy?
