A few weeks back someone linked to a weather site with great visual maps for rain/wind etc. Unfortunately now I can't recall the web page or the thread it was mentioned in.
Visually it was a blue/grey appearance.
Any ideas what it could have been?

isn't weather radar - its a visual representation of weather model output of what various (relatively coarse resolution global) computer models think the weather will do. Weather radar is instruments on the ground firing beams of elecrtomagnetic radiation at the sky to measure how much rain is actually falling. Radar is real..model output is just dreams of computers.
