riddle me this..
water bill this a.m. 'Congratulations you ve only used 2 thirds of your estimated usage for the last Year..' all good. very green.
and your 107.89 in credit paying 13.80 pcm.. all good..
SO based on that usage we ve increased your new payments to 21.59 pcm.
now i may be only a humble artisan, but with math like that are utility companies the new work place for former bankers?
Oxfam are advertising that they can supply a family with water for £2 a month. Maybe switch supplier? 🙂
supply is only a third of the bill.. we re lucky enough to have to pay for them to take the same amount of water as they supply in sewage AND theres even a fixed charge of 66pa to take away the rain that fall on my house..which they then sell back to me!
Nothing wrong with their maths, it's just that the letter telling you they are increasing their prices hasn't arrived yet 🙂
I got the same with the gas/elec - same usage estimated for next year, so the only thing that must have changed is the unit cost.
So, your account is more than 7 months in credit, but they're increasing your payments by 50%?
I'd be on the phone asking for a good reason.
Out of interest, which company is that?
utd utilities and i did get on the phone and you wont believe.. we ve had a lot of estimates over the last three years and one or two readings ( 2 actually one 3 years ago one a month ago) and .. ther both the same!
the damn fool meter isnt working..
so utd utilities say i will be charged the average for a 4 person house for those years minus the money i ve paid and they ll fit a new meter within 10 weeks..
it could be of course as i pointed out that we ve not used any water? but that was quickly rubbished surprisingly..
Get back on to UU, zero metre readings are a known issue which does sometimes cock the billing up, ask them to investigate. There is an escalation procedure within the contact centre for complaints. Tell them you're not happy.
If you want UU not to take away the rain on your roof then you need to collect it yourself and they don't sell it back to you, it goes into the sewers.
Edit: And I've just re-read your last post. I'm not sure what the problem is now. The meter appears to be broken so they're going to fix it but what else can they do other than charge you normal rates for that broken period? You clearly have used water....
I'd say yes, they do take your pee
I'd say yes, they do take your pee
They don't take mine. Sceptic tank 😉
They don't take the rainwater either.
All we pay is £8.90 a month for mains water. Cracking deal I reckon.
Having had a leak once, I'd recommend checking the meter on a periodic basis. I guess you could ask the water company to charge you based on previous measured usage, but did you only have the meter installed 3 years back? Think ours is checked by them every 6 months or so, why have you had 3 years of estimates?
we ve had three years of estimates as they ve not called round when we ve been in..
New meters don't need them to enter your property to read. Not sure if they'll install one of those for you yet though. Business premises only I think at the moment.
I thought most meters went outside at the stop tap on the boundary.
