So the washing machine has been getting loud of late. Sounds like it's out of balance and about to take off but doesn't move an inch. Now all of a sudden grey dust is appearing at the bottom of the machine and a quick Google suggests loose tub weights.
The washing machine is a year and about a month old. The website we bought it from suggests it has a 1 year warranty and 10 year parts (if registered)(which it's not been to my knowledge).
Any how's I'm going to ring said company about repair but I'm a bit annoyed that the machines failed after a short period of time and I seem to remember reading that white goods are supposed to come with 2 years warranty under eu law but I might be making this up unless anyone can shed any light on it?
If anybody could help or suggest the best way to approach them. That would be great.

I had some success with this approach. There is a table for expected product lifetime. If something falls well short of this then it is faulty/not fit for purpose. I had a fridge freezer die in 18 months.
Got it refunded less the 18months out of an expected 10 year lifespan.
We had one where the weights became loose. Take the lid off and check ... shouldn’t take long.
Forget warranty. CRA trumps both that and the EU directive. It's failed within an unacceptable time then it's not of reasonable quality. Your claim is against the retailer, not the manufacturer.
