Back from a very wet weekend at the NPS race and my Ipod which worked fine and survived the 3 days ended up being left in the one pocket of my coat that didn;t get checked ont he way to the washing machine.
Result is a damp Ipod Nano although the skull cnady headphones are still fine.
It's been sat on the radiator since and seemed to have dried out but still wasn't working so I decided to take the case apart to let it dry properly and effed the thing up.
Son anyways I'm looking for a replacement and was wondering about an alternative (cheaper) than my 8GB Nano. I really like I Tunes and would prefer compatibility with that. I'm not a computer nerd so don't need anything that I can programme to launch a nuclear assault on Russia.
There's places hat can repair them fairly cheeply, when washe my phone it actualy sti workded, just the screen went blank (so you could stil dial nubmbers if you remembered the key equence).
Might be less buggered than you thought.
Did the same to my shuffle. Thought it was ruined but after a few days in the airing cupboard it was fine - still going strong.

Might help
Slight problem there, y'see I have a bit of a short fuse and on finding that my efforts weren't working and that I was starting to eff the thing up I tested it's ability as a frisbie, guess what, they only fly so well.
To say I'm narked with myself is an understatement but at least I taught it a lesson.
Washed mine the other week, bloody annoying!
Try the refurbished store on the apple website. i think 8gb ipod nanos were £90
I washed my Shuffle the last month. Or to be accurate, Mr Toast washed my Shuffle, after the last Big Build Day! 😛
Alas, we could never get it working again - after it had dried out, iTunes would recognise it as an iPod, but say that it was in recovery mode, and ask if I wanted to restore it to factory settings. I said yes, but it just loops between those two options.
Ended up getting a new Shuffle, didn't think washing machine accidents were covered by the guarantee...:( At least you're not alone in the Pod Washing Posse!
Ha! not the only one then.
It's a right bugger, I really like it and had got to grips with converting video to put on it too.
Sony seem to do a few things that are a bit closer to what I could afford at the moment but I don't know if I'll be able to use it as well without going through the effort I did with the Ipod.
A new touch would be nice but way too much £££
Kirstie washed her's stu, no hope for it and i'm afraid ipod is the only real option as a replacement.
by the way did an old skool ride around the chase today and took in some trails i haven't ridden for about 8 years 🙂
all the new partly built stuff on the special events side, is that the start of the black trails?
looks like it's gonna be rather good
Apple have a pretty tight strangehold on the RRP of their products, so it's tough to get a bargain on them - normally shops offer free or discounted accessories to try and sweeten the deal instead. You can sometimes pick up the previous generation version of an iPod for a reduced price though.
I've been told if you take it to an apple store they will replace it with a new one (a kind of crash replacement program?) for a standard fee (when I heard it was around £50 IIRC), m8 has done it several times apparently... worth asking...
