Having learnt the guitar and how to read music as a child (and then having given upp for a FEW years) - Im now at a point in my life where I's like to learn guitar (acoustic)

I have found a local tutor but need some advice of Guitar playing STW'ers regarding what would be a godd guitar to buy.

I after an adult size (I have large hands), Id like it to be a good guitar to use as a beginner but it also needs to be a guitar which I can use for a few years

Im happy to put approx £250 +/- into said instrument, I just dont want to have to be replacing after a couple of years

Are the Fender acoustic range any good? if so what models

any other brands etc?

help needed thanks chaps!

No point spending £250 if you dont know weather your gonna stick to it but if you want a nice guitar for the price the best thing is to go into a few guitar shops and try some out. if you cannot play well enough to get a good sound out of it yet get some of the shop helper/owners to play it for you. you decide which one you like the sound of most because its your guitar and you want to have your own style and not copy someone elses.

Im thinking of getting an acoustic this X-MAS and I will be looking around Epiphone and Freshman and Tanglewood. A fantastic jazzy style guitar is the Epiuphone EJ-200.

Have a look at it on the internet

You'll love it

😀

I bought a breedlove for a similar budget a few years ago. It's just a matter of trying out a few in a music shop (don't worry about the noise coming from them!) to try out the shape of the neck and the tone of te instrument. The breedlove seemed to fit my spade like hands pretty well. You may like the tone of one over another in contrast to any reviews you have read.

I'd check out the Fenders, Breedloves,Washburns, Crafters - there's loads out there.....

Enjoy it as well, I'm just starting to pick mine up again after a few years of guitar free fatherhood and I've realised I've forgotten what little I knew 🙂

I got one of these - http://www.omegamusic.co.uk/shop/music-shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=1034&ref=1

Beautiful guitar and sounds/plays lovely - everyone who plays it is amazed by how little it cost.

As said earlier - pop down to your local music shop, have a chat with the staff and try out as many guitars as you like the look of.

Bit like a bike really - have a test play / ride.

Also have a look at the Vintage V300 - won What Guitar guitar of the year a few years back, beating Martins costing three times as much.

I've had one for the last couple of years and it's a great instrument. A little dinky perhaps, but I have massive hands and no issues....

EDIT: Oh, yeah, and it comes in at around £100 - can't be bad!

I got myself a Yamaha 730S Acoustic and it plays way above its belt in terms of sound having tried some more expensive models in the store. Again head down to your local stores and have a go and I would ask your new tutor what he thinks would be suitable.

yamaha - you'd have to double your outlay before you get a better guitar. ish, sort of.

Yamaha are pretty good - nowhere near as nice as my LAG for the money though. 😉

Def Yamaha.

Got a FG 730S recently and its just ace. Also got an old FG-180 which sounds bostin.
