50000 people killed by elephants? really?
Lemmy reckons you are Killed by Death
I thought we all died of the same thing.
It's amazing to see how far down the list of Infectious diseases HIV\AIDs is when compared to things like whooping cough, Diarrhea, TB, Tetanus etc
according to some people - it'll be a single fibre of asbestos! 😮
It isn't how you will die, it's a graph of how people died last century.
For instance, I'm unlikely to die of WWII.......
^^
Killjoy's here, back to work everyone....

Interesting that of the 115M deaths caused by drugs tobacco and alcohol account for 109M of those...
Something like 1 in 200 of us will die in a road accident. In the US it's the wrong side of 1 in 100
thats ace, really puts the world into perspective.
as a creature, we continue to mostly live our lives refusing to believe we will die. We continue to prolong our lives, spending time and money trying to defeat age when the stark reality is everybody dies. MTFU. 😉
If we find cures for the infectious diseases the world would fill up really quickly.

We can just have more wars to balance it out 😉
HIV 12.5m
The splats 228m
Wow!
Doesn't make for a sexy campaign though, I'm guessing
Also seems that they haven't linked alcohol to cirrhosis of the liver? hmm

There was a program on the World Service about this.
Apparently in Bangladesh and Vietnam birth rates are falling to 'Western' levels. The problems they then have is that support services for people later in life are virtually non-existent so they are likely to have a huge problem with elderly people with few children needing care that their children cannot provide or afford and which the state is not set up to do either.

Wow. Imagine if that were the case here... 😕
I don't see cycling on there. Will keep on riding then. Despite your average driver's efforts 🙂

The example they used was the Vietnamese bloke with stomach cancer who was 'treating' it by drinking green tea because he didn't want to spend the money he'd saved for his daughters university course on medical treatment that would only extend his life by a few years at best.
Living in the UK I suspect we will have the life sucked out of us 🙁
Interesting stuff. I'm hoping to get into one of the more exclusive groups..

If only it were a Venn diagram. You could aim for a *really* niche intersection.
"Trampled by an Elephant whilst fighting in a war and unicycling whilst having the squits and a heart attack"
anyhow surely the best way to die, is to be shot dead in the head by a jealous lover at the age of 94! (hope so)

If you really feel that way, why not emigrate?
For instance, I'm unlikely to die of WWII.
Or smallpox. Despite the fact that 400 million died of it last century. Mostly in the first half.
The probability of a catholic killing me with a condom is lower than might be expected.
