Well, I assume that there will be a few...

Anyone got any feedback on the new XC90 II, post the '19 light facelift/spruce up. Diesel or hybrid.

TIA.

SIL has one, 19 reg but unsure if facelifted, diesel.

It is ****ing huge outside, like minibus size. She liked this until a month in when she has come to terms with having to park over two spaces regularly...
Comfy. Room for 5 plus dog in cage plus boot. Not so efficient as hoped for apparently. Supposedly the info screen thing is leagues ahead of their previous Merc and current 5 Series.
Her husband doesn't like it so much as she does. But then he has a 5-series tourer on the company.

I think my V70 is worth about one alloy of the XC90....

Thanks, Matt.
Still miss my old V70. (The butt of the tree gag above! Now resting in Volvohalla!)

Unless you really need the off-road capability of the XC90 have you considered a V90 cross country? All the interior space, practicality and comfortbut with better MPG and fewer Chelsea tractor comments. I faced the same decision recently and went with the V90, I’ve not regretted it for a minute

BigG, the v90CC is lovely, but we need the extra seats of the XC90. The 4x4ness of it is a pleasing bonus.

Didn't even get to take it home to use as firewood! #PeakSTW

MY sister has a T8 and seems to like it. The down side is that it massive and hard to find somewhere to park it in busy car parks.

I've got a 2016 XC90 with the air suspension and all that jazz. from what i've read the newer ones ride a lot better, i find mine is a bit wallowy but i guess you can't avoid that with such a big car (and it is big). Very comfortable and the screens etc are excellent with my only caveat being the VW i had previously showed me the radio information a lot better i.e. it's difficult to know what song they are playing etc.

Tows the horse box really well and i've taken it green laning a few times which is fun as well.

I had the T8 on dem last year whilst mine was in being 'done'. IIRC, it had a 2L 4 pot diesel engine and a load of electric witchcraft to get to over 400bhp. When plodding around, it ran mainly on the diesel. So that's a huge 'premium' car being dragged about by a ~200bhp 4 pot stinker... Not refined, not performant, not 'premium'.

The car may have an extra row of seats but it doesn't really have much more room than one of the big estates. I'd be looking for the extra seating capacity elsewhere.

The in-laws have one. It's big, but a really relaxing place to be inside. Just watch out for buying one with bigger alloy wheels (21's,I think). They might look better, but they make the ride disappointingly jiggly. Would be better on 19's, I think...

XC90 was Which? magazine's most faulty car last year. Nothing major but tons if niggly things around electrics and emissions. I've driven a few XC90s (all D5s) and they are lovely places to be, if a tad enormous in car parks, wallowy on twisty roads and somewhat thirsty to boot. I bought a V90 (D4) which is just as difficult to park, just as lovely inside, rides and handles better, is less thirsty but lacks the commanding view and 4wd. If you can afford the XC90 running costs and need the 4x4, 7 seats and massive boot, fair enough but some German 4x4s can do all that and go round corners as well.

EDIT: Avoid 21" wheels at all costs. We tested a Toureg R Line with 21" alloys, the ride quality compared to 19" wheels was awful. Also north of a grand for 4 tyres!

It's a Capn thread, cost is not most important factor here!

Also, wasn't it more a case of the tree not missing you, i.e. it hit you? Feels like the comment above suggests you put it into a tree?

😀

Thanks, folks. Appreciate the feedback. Already have an XC90, so aware of the shortcomings, was really looking for info on the newest version. Muchos appreciados.

Steering clear of 21" GuggiWheel versions, that's for sure. Current thinking is smaller wheels and the upgraded suspension option.

And, for those wondering about the tree references, the original is here - https://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/volvo-for-sale-3/

Slightly different view on the wheels,, I opted for the 21” on my v90 CC and haven’t noticed the ride feeling harsh at all. Smaller wheels can look a bit “lost” in those big wheel arches IMHO.

Yes tyres will be expensive, but it’s an expensive car, why quibble over £40 a corner extra cost for tyres?
