Is anyone elses child into this? My lad is getting a bit obsessed with it, i don't bloody get it. (yes i'm old) 😆
Don't get it either. The owner of the gym I go to does a daily Vlog! WTF, and then he spams every member with emails asking them to view and like his videos!
Dull as dishwater...

The gym only has 140 members, can't think the revenues amount to anything....
I just think people grossly overestimate how interesting their lives are to others....

If it's a private youtube link to just the gym folk then aye, every day is a bit much!

Would be neglibible for a local gym over.
More about brand-building and/or lust for internet fame IMO.
You might as well hone your vlogging skills on a smal audience .. there are folks making pocket money a few thousand dollars via fashionistas making hundreds of grand to millions for the gamers.
We all post on here for our own amusement gand occasional ride/bike tip) and STW make the ad revenue (long may that continue)
A couple of years ago one of our A-level ICT students vlogged about wresting. He'd do previews of upcoming matches, reviews of previous matches, etc. As a 16-year-old he was making four times as much as his peers who had part-time jobs in supermarkets, and this was 4 or 5 years ago when You Tube wasn't as easy to monetise.

I mentioned to him about focusing on something that interests him rather than making random videos of shite...
they can be good but you need to have interesting content and not be spamming folk too frequently. Couple of folk I follow on FB started doing daily vlogs and I unfollowed them.
there can be too much!

Maybe his interest lie in the scatological?
Wasn't meaning shite literally 😆
I thought this was some variant on dogging, but couldn't figure out what.

We've moved beyond the five channel, national broadcaster, mass market channel. Youtube allows you to create content which caters to your interests and no matter how niche (within reason) you can engage with an audience who are into the same things you are.
So even if you think X or Y is incredibly banal or strange there's a good chance that if you are motivated, interesting and engaging you can create a decent audience from 4 or 5 billion potential viewers.

Pretty sure the comings and goings of a Crossfit coach in Cambridge is in the 4 to 5 people range...

And yet a quick a google suggests at least 4 million people participate in Crossfit and it's probably safe to say there's another 4 million who are curious. Then there's the sports and conditioning coaches and the wannabe coaches ...and so on and so on.
It's understandable why you would want to mock and deride the self promotional efforts of someone who has a small audience and a niche appeal but with consistent effort, good content and original ideas this Cambridge coach could easily be looking at an additional $50,000 a year, which I am sure none of us would turn our noses up at.
