We've just received a letter from Talk Talk telling us that to keep our existing Tiscali package (TT purchased Tiscali), we have to sign up to a new 18 month contract. Our download limit would be capped too, and no longer unlimited. This is despite TT sending a letter a few months back saying nothing would change with the Talk Talk takeover.
Anyway, we think the contract renewal is taking the pee a bit, and I've never been impressed with the Tiscali service and performabce. So we are thinking of changing ISP's. Our place already has Virgins fibre optic connection installed (previous owner), so are thinking of siging up to a Virgin BB/TV/phone package for a similar price to our current BT/Talk talk set up.
So....Virgin fibre optic broadband, any good?

The question has been asked fairly recently 😉
Cant fault the internet and the phone but the V+ box I find a pain to use. Its very slow compared the the Sky HD box I used to have. Occasionally the box freezes and takes time to kick into life. Also if your into the interactive footie stuff then its not available on Virgin.
Just be careful of the sales patter as I was told all this was available but it was to late when I had it installed to find that it wasnt....
Cant wait to go back to Sky....
Yeah can't fault it. Super fast, and I get more telly than I could ever need, a phone line, and a 10mbs broadband (as in actually 10mbs, not 'upto') for 21 quid a month. Also get all the iplayer/itv player/etc stuff for free as well as on demand movies etc.
Apparently their customer service can be a bit dodgy sometimes, but I wouldn't know as in two years i've never had call to use it. It all just works.*
*Waits for his computer to explode and demons to emerge out of the cable box.
I tend to use Freeview rather than Virgin for TV (since we've got a Freeview box with HDD), so can't comment on this vs Sky+. The internet access is actually 10MB as someone else said and very reliable. It's also delivered over coax rather than twisted pair (better cable). The "fibre optic" is a bit deceiving, since you don't actually get fibre to your house, but the fibre is closer to your house than most BT areas.
20mb VM here. Very fast.
Has worked literally without a single fault for the last 9yrs, & before that 3yrs at my previous address.
had virgin broadband for 6 years without a fault, brilliant srvice
