Was about to throw out our old VHS player but found a couple of tapes of family stuff that needs to be kept. So whats the best way of transfering to DVD ?

I've seen the gadgets that plug in between your PC and video player but they seem to vary from £5 to £40 so is there any particular make that is best ?

Thank you

Can't you just connect the VCR A/V out to the DVD recorders A/V in?

a simple phone/Scart lead should do the trick

You will also probably need a Scart to Red/White/Yellow lead - about another tenner.

For the best results, use the fastest PC you have to capture the video or it may be a little jerky.

The Dazzle hardware is ok but the software (last time I tried it) was rubbish. I have found a free bit of software that will take the input from the Dazzle and save it as any type of video format you want, but I can't remember what it was called and I'm at work now.

Unless you want to play around with the output [e.g. compile a DVD] & are happy to simply transfer the contents of each tape to a DVD
You don't need anything other than a couple of A/V leads [less than a fiver]
